Q: For sizing, what does "5 b (m) us" mean?

I always wear a U. S. 8, with Doc boots, 6 F(M) U.K. is equivelent to 8 B(M) U.S. as the charts say. They fit perfectly. Withshoes however it's a different story, one usually needs to go down a size. So if you wear women's 5 U.S. these boots should be just right. They are gorgeous and comfortable, I highly recommend them!

Q: I normally wear. 7.5 wide or 8M. Will the 8 be ok? Is there any arch support?

Honestly, this boot is more trendy than comfortable. My regular docs I absolutely love. The size 8 should work unless your feet are extremely wide.

Q: What is the difference between the black and the black softy t??

I believe the difference is the stiffness in the leather,my softy t had little to no trouble with wearability. I didnt have to break them in at all...It has a soft finish to the leather but it is a well constructed, quality boot...I'm very hard on my combat boots therefore the leather must stand up to the test/task of time.
