Systematically taken helps dissolve existing cholesterol gallstones and prevents the formation of new (inhibits the activity of HMG-CoA reductase). The product is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is metabolized in the liver and excreted as glucuronides in urine and bile.
