The Big Bang: A Guide to the New Sexual Universe

As a concerned scientist and married man, I find this primer to be both very informative and very entertaining. This book definitely is not for the prude or for the über-conservative, neither is for guys looking for pornographic material in books. It is, as someone mentioned, very clinical and factual yet posed in a frank and even raw manner. The pictorials are shocking and graphic, but they're so with a pourpose and for a reason. And that reason is that sex can and is one of innermost desires that conservative-minded people have tried to obfuscate for ages. We all live and breath sex. Humans are sexual beings, and any notion to the contrary is just ignorance. I don't have a teen-aged son or daughter, but if I did, I'd certainly entertain the idea of giving him or her a copy (depending on their maturity). I myself have learned many "tricks" that might have seemed obvious to me and never tried thinking that I was just being nonsensical and puerile, but have turned out to be of great satisfaction.Further, the unassuming and candid tone of the author(s) is very artsy and literate. The only one reason I gave 4 stars is the fact that I think they went a little too far with the plethora of euphemisms for masturbation. But, with no qualms, I recommend this book to all of you (teens, adults, old-timers, etc.)

I bought this book with the hope of finding out some new things (you can never know to much). However, I'm frankly disappointed with this book. First issue I had with the book was the weird, nudity pictures. Don't worry, they're nothing over the top, but for myself, they made me feel slightly uncomfortable. Second issue that I had was in the fact that the book hardly taught me anything. The sexual positions were all things that most couples have already experienced...several times over. (Trust me when I tell you that I'm no freak who is in the cirque du soleil either. I'm a normal, married woman which means if I've already experienced these sexual techniques...no doubt more "experienced" people have flown by this quite some time ago). However, the book isn't all bad. It does give a couple of new techniques on delivering hand jobs that are "unique" (at least to me). Also, if you are looking for a beginner's guide into fisting or bondage (which I sure as heck am not), then this book has several chapters to lead you down that path.

This really is only of the only sex guides you'll ever need. It covers everything from the basic of basics, to advanced kink, and STDs. There are many photos to help break up the monotony of the text, handy anatomy guides and break downs, and even clever puns and jokes making the seriousness of discussing sex a little more friendly and interesting (my favourite was the Princess Bride joke.)I won't bore you giving by a break down of the chapters and what you'll find in the book; just take my word and buy it as you won't regret it. This is the perfect book to help your teen understand the importance of safe sex, make smart choices, and how to avoid STDs; it's perfect to help your relationship (whether hetro, gay, lesbian, or otherwise) get back a missing spark; and it's perfect if you're just looking for some more information on sexual wellness as a whole.

I love the playfulness and excellent prose. It is witty without being crass. There are passages that made me laugh out loud.One criticism, the book is primarily for hetero men and women. So why have photos of gay men? for hetero men this is not sexy or appealing .It really detracts from an other wise great book.Just as gay men are not interested in hetero sex why interject this for heteros?

I've purchased this book 4 times. Every time, I end up giving it away to a friend (once a co-worker) who needs it more than I do. It covers a lot of milder kinks, plus masturbation for both sexes, and it's funny and easy to read. The huge chapter on safer sex is great, especially for younger sex-havers. The world would be a better place if everyone had this info.

This book is absolutely amazing. It's packed full of good information and written in a throughly enjoyable manner. This book is hysterical but also provides serious information about disease and protection. Fun, factual, fantastic. Buy this book and the Guide to Getting it On and you will be set! Plenty of info for both sexes with lots tips !! Straight, gay, or solo this is the book for you. Even if you think you have nothing left to learn, check this book out. It might just surprise you.

Loved this book. Its about the style the material is presented - factual with an added edge. Imagery is good. Subject breadth is good - cant think of any subject left undone. Em & Lo are wonderful !!
