In Case Nobody Told You: Passages of Wisdom and Encouragement

I have read several of Emily Maroutian’s books, and what continues to strike me about them is not only their clarity and depth of insight, but their generosity of spirit. In thinking about writing a review of In Case Nobody Told You, this word, “generosity,” stuck with me despite my best efforts to avoid it. I’ve wondered if anyone reading the review would find the word helpful. That said, it is apparent that Ms. Maroutian is drawing on her own experience, and trying to convey what she’s learned through her own struggles in order to offer something of herself that might support or uplift. This is very clear with the words on the back of In Case Nobody Told You: “This book contains passages of encouragement, wisdom, and reassurance. It was written to bring the reader hope, confidence, and clarity. Be you. Be free. Thrive.” (Ms. Maroutian’s aim is even more clear in her “Note From The Author,” too long to reproduce here.) For me, she has greatly succeeded in what she’s intended.I’ve been reading such books, and authors, for many, many years, and I can’t say I’ve found one whose desire to give to and support others is so evident. This book feels like a very personal one both in its offering to others and the source from which it draws. The voicing is a personal one, as if to someone deeply cared for, and seems to take place in a quiet place, a place of intimacy, between author and reader. There is great generosity in Ms. Maroutian continuing to write such books, and the repeated willingness to look objectively at her own experience to do it.In Case Nobody Told You is very accessible, and profoundly practical. Anyone wanting to come to deeper self-understanding, greater self-acceptance, self-sovereignty, empowerment, and peace will benefit from it. It is written in short sections, each a page or less, that open with a single statement. The book is a wonderful offering, and even after reading many such books I found it to stand out for its insights and supportive, inspiring tone. I am grateful for its having been written, and have already purchased additional copies for my sister and a friend. I can’t recommend In Case Nobody Told You highly enough!

I think everyone should read this book . I loved reading it while I drank coffee in the morning. It made a tough time in my life slot easier to deal with.
