A lot of information but presented in a very uninteresting manner
It is a book that discusses a lot of things about the human body. I read the part about the nervous system more extensively, since I was preparing for a lecture on the significant areas of the brains and CNS. It gives a significant amount of information but unfortunately it fails (miserably) to give the importance and significance of all the information being given. If a student were to read the book, I am sure these information will not be remembered. Another thing, the manner on how the book was written leaves a lot to be desired. The topics were not presented in an interesting way so a student trying to go through the text will definitely need to find a way to harness his concentration and desire to learn to finish his assigned reading.

okay.
I bought this book because it was a required book for my advanced Physiology class but..... this book is not the greatest. The reading is so boring and I have had to complement it with other books and you tube videos. It would have been great to have a DVD to work along with it.

A fine text for medical school
A fine text for medical school. However it has way too much detail for a primary text source. Good for referencing topics that need more flushing out. I would recommend this as a supplement to Costanzo's Physiology, but ONLY if you find that Costanzo is missing details you want.

Thurough, easy to read, and a great resource.
Don't have a lot to say except that the writing is well done, the charts really explain the material well and allow for a quick review down the line, and the clinical correlations on nearly every page help solidify the information with common things we will see in the future. Great book all around, and I recommend it to any medical student that is considering it. WORTH THE MONEY.

don't get it digital
I got the Kindle version for my smart phone and several figures are missing. Not to mention there is little to go off of for when a figure or side bar comment is progressing and when it has switch back to the main text. I do like the search feature.

Most of the figures cannot be viewed
I was excited to read the ebook i purchased. I was, however, diasppointed. Disappointed since i could not view most of the figures. I think i wasted my money. I should have bought the text book, then it would contain the complete contents of the book.

A pedagogical physiology book
As a first year medicine student, I found the book easy to understand. Altough it is not one of the most complete works on this field of science (neither is it meant to be), it porvides a solid fundament for the most basics concepts of psysiology. People who want more detail, can purchase Boulpaep Medical Physiology, but for newcommers, the Berne & Levy is a great book. Highly reccomended!

Great book overall
I would recommend this book to students simply because of the fact that it explains cellular and organ physiology very clearly. There are some good diagrams that act as additional support to the descriptions given of certain structures. Personally, I found this book extremely useful in the sense that it covered any parts I found confusing in lectures at university, whether it was to do with the anatomy of certain parts of organs or describing the processes involved in any bodily system. I recommend this book for its clear and concise descriptions and its detailed diagrammatical representations of structures.

Eh
Go with Guyton and Hall for physiology. This book has made all of my med student friends feel like their brain has turned to a pile of mush after reading ;)

Excellent concept delivery, Vast amount of details, simple writing style
An excellent book for those who seek concepts along with details.Writing style is simple and easy to understand.concept delivery is excellent. one time reading could just suffice.multiple readings may however be required for getting all the details embossed on to the brain.
