Bought this 5,500w generator as backup for home, where power loss is becoming more frequent. We have two refrigerators. This product was slightly lower in price, probably a 1 yr old design. Primary selling point is reliability of start and fuel. I will only use propane! Slightly higher in price but available everywhere and is not susceptible to deposits; like gasoline. I am still breaking in, I give it 30 minutes each month, and gives you familarity with setting up. You need a major extension cord (120/240,30amps, $65) that will reach into house, then use other 20 amp extensions to fan out. We live in Texas, this is not intended to carry a cooling load but it will provide heat (gas system), 2 refrigerators, a microwave and minor lights. A 20lb cylinder is good for 8 hrs, have more than one, but it is same as your grill, infra-heater, etc. DuroStar gives good service.

Solid generator and good value.

Well with tax and all my 5500 watts generator cost me $189.00 and was Well worth the price for this machine. I will definitely be buying more products from this seller. Also, the delivery time was early. Thanks again for a great product.

If you are in need of it works great wouldn't recommend using it full time for a camper, but it does great for when you need it as it should!

I ordered this product, unaware that it had no manual pull cord for manual starting, and that apparently it was not returnable... Once I explained I had never seen a home generator that did not have a manual pull cord, they agreed to allow me to return the product and they paid for the shipping as well! I will be purchasing my next home generator from this company and refer them to all of my family and friends who are preparing for this Florida hurricane season! Thank you for you support! Propane or gas.

This generator gets the job done. I have used it for my shaved ice trailer that runs the A/C and a few other electrical components. I have only run it with propane gas, no gasoline yet. It runs great, but it is a little noisy, but I don't know how it compares to other generators with the same size and specs. It may be comparable. It is on the heavy side like most generators of this wattage, so make sure you know how many watts you require. I plan to construct a noise box like I've seen on youtube, which should help based on results I've seen. Never the less, this is a good generator for the price.

Go ahead PG&E. Shut our power off again, for a fourth time. We are ready now to save our refrigerated products and keep the sewer ejector pump working in our home below the street level. Easy to hook-up; instructions are exceptionally clear and easy to follow, even has several trouble-shooting suggestions in case you don't know what you're doing! Our trial runs worked great. Loudness is not that bad. We partially mitigated some of it with a plastic platform set on the dirt flowerbed by the corner of the house where the electrical and gas hook-ups are located. It will run our refrigerator,sewer pump, tv, and main living lights, and upstairs heater. That's all we needed. Hope we never have to use it. Be sure to turn main breaker to your utility to OFF before using the generator.
