100ml Graduated Cylinder, Borosilicate 3.3 Glass, Single Metric Scale, Karter Scientific 213I12 (Single)

I primarily use this cylinder in home brewing contexts. It is perfect for measuring the initial SpGr of a solution when the sugar content is high (before brewing). When the sugar content is too low (anything below around 1.030), the cylinder is not quite tall enough to sink the hydrometer, so you'll need a taller test column. It's also good for measuring additives and nutrients.Although the graduations are not as precise as a more expensive lab-grade or even general-grade cylinder, this column does a great job for measuring anything with relative precision of ±1 mL.

Overall I'm happy with this purchase. For the price, the glass is pretty thick and the product feels substantial. Having said that, there are a few caveats to this product.First, the product listing is incorrect. The product is advertised as "Class A." Per ASTM E1272, a "Class A" 100ml graduated cylinder must be accurate to within +/- 0.5 mL. This product is labeled as having +/- 1.0 mL accuracy, which is "Class B." Aside from this product listing being technically incorrect, I don't think this is a big deal. I needed something reasonably accurate for calibrating peristaltic pumps. For my application, this product hits the sweet spot between price and function. If you need something with a certificate of accuracy, I don't think this is the container for you. However, if you truly need that level of accuracy and precision, I doubt you'd be looking at glassware on Amazon.com. You'd likely be buying from one of the big players in the scientific community (Sigma Aldrich, Fisher Scientific, etc). For me, I needed something reasonably accurate that was more precise than a simple measuring cup, and this fit the bill nicely for a decent price.Second, the cylinder has marks every mL, but it has no marks at all below 10 mL. This is not a problem for me, as I regularly measure between 50 and 100 mL. Just a useful piece of information of which to be aware.If it weren't for the listing inaccuracy, I'd rate this product as 5 stars. It's a reasonably accurate sturdy piece of glassware for a good price. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase.

When an item description says things like "To maintain quality control"... you expect them to actually look at the items they're sending you. Mine came with a misshapen top rim. Now I have to go re-box, print a label, and send it back.The print was actually an amber with a slight orange hue, not exactly the same red as the item's picture, but at least it wasn't white like some other brands swap on you.The weight and balance were fine.The tube seemed like heavier glass than the base. The base actually sits on three glass rounded feet.

My problem is with the product description. It seems to lead you to believe that it is a Class A cylinder, but has a +-1mL which is the tolerance for Class B 100mL. The tolerance for Class A 100mL is +-.5mL, and my Sibata cylinder had a +-.4mL In winemaking I need to be as accurate as possible for my measurements.Other than that it seems to be of an okay quality.Also, I am very surprised it wasn't broken in shipping; the box for it was placed in a much too large bubble mailer and quite smashed when I received it.

Made from thick glass. Graduated from 10 to 1000 in increments of 1. I have never bought anything from Karter scientific before and in my opinion they're very pretty nice and should suit your needs just fine.
