I would recommend this to EVERYONE!
I cannot speak more favorably about this book and other material from Freedom in Christ Ministries. Among Dr. Anderson's strengths is explaining things. This helped confirm some thoughts and provided significant helpful answers to others. He introduced me to Threshold Thinking. I've often wondered how to determine the amount of time to allow my mind (thoughts) to experience painful thoughts. They are so real. He brought up Threshold Thinking to address areas of temptation. For me that includes the temptation to 'camp out' in hurtful thinking that can lead to despair. Threshold Thinking is the moment the thought enters the mind. He used 1 Cor 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." He advised that we "take the way of escape the moment our thoughts are contrary to the truth and righteousness." The way of escape is to rehearse God's truths from His word. Combining this concept with a message I heard on the shield of faith by John Macarthur where he reminds us that God teaches us: when you believe God, your shield is up. In the same way, as we choose to camp out on (think about- believe) God's truths rather than on hurts and even speculative thinking, the darkness is permitted. I hope that makes sense. This book is rich with scripture and explanations. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Everyone needs to read this book!
This book changed my life. If you struggle with knowing who God is and your relationship with Him, then I highly recommend you read it ASAP. After the Bible of course, this is the most important thing I have ever read. My marriage was in shambles and I was in despair yet I was able to find joy even through one of the worst emotional times of my life. And to this day I can remind myself that no matter what, He cares about me.It is not a light easy read full of fluff and platitudes - it cuts to the heart of the matter. But it’s well worth it. You are worth it.

Audible Version Does Not Follow Book
The fact that the Audible version of Victory Over the Darkness does not follow the book is a frustrating and disappointing discovery. The book’s author, Neil T. Anderson, inserts commentary and additional information that leaves the reader unable to follow along in the book. I use the Audible version to assist me in staying attentive to address ADD. I’ve never encountered this behavior with another author. I’d like my money back for the Audible version.

A great resource for those who find themselves stuck in a religious pool and are drowning! This book is a great read and lays out the truths of gospel very well. The writer is very knowledgeable and capable of delivering the truth in a way that can be understood. The book is designed to build off the chapters, taking someone from a generalized view of the gospel into a deeper understanding. This book is a great resource for those looking to help others who are searching for their identiy in Christ and have many strognholds that have kept them from truth. This author has many other valuable resources as well and you shoudl get them all!

Does not match printed book of identical cover
I'm sure this is a great book. I've heard great things about it. Get it and be blessed! But I purchased this audible book to help me stay focused to read the printed book assigned in a Bible College Class I am taking. While the covers are identical, the two books are not! Not just a little different, a page and a half skipped in the introduction, and I got totally lost in chapter 1, then gave up. I can only guess one is a different edition. But why didn't they change the cover when they changed the content?! Really frustrating for me to have wasted money on something I can not use!!! I have to read the version I have in print for the class. Really irritating. I will try to return it for a refund but I don't know if that is possible with audible books. Like I have time to deal with this taking a full load of classes. Sorry for such a bad tone.

HIGHLY Recommended!
Fabulous book! Very helpful, encouraging, and exciting! I took a class at my local church on Spiritual Warfare and this book was highly recommended. I am so glad that I purchased it and read it! My life is truly changed. I cannot say enough good things about it. Everyone who considered themselves a Christian should read it!Each chapter seems to be filled with these ideas and truths that most Christians seem to be unaware of, It is really an amazing book and worth the read. I was a little hesitant at first and had trouble getting into it, but by Chapter 2 - I was hooked! Excellent read!

Know who you are "In Christ"
Neil Anderson has provided the Christian community with a great resource that will help the believer realize their identity in Christ. There are two particular charts in this book that are of great help. The first is on page 51-52, it answers the question of who a person is once they are in Christ. The second chart is on page 64-65 and it describes who a person is, "since I am in Christ."One of the things that I liked was that Anderson expressed theology before practicality. This is nice to see since many people only want practicality, as if careful practice requires no thought to direct it, this is not the case in this book. There is one particular theological position that you should be aware of prior to reading the book. Anderson is rather emphatic about saying that the believer sins, but is not a sinner. He says that the believer should only refer to his or herself as a saint. A believer is declared righteous in Christ and receives the imputed righteousness of Christ at regeneration. However, positionally we still sin (which he does not deny) but never calling oneself a sinner is like saying that I steal, but I am not a thief. This is my one major quandary with the book. Outside of that, you can learn a great deal from this particular book.

Much more than just a good read
An amazing book showing tremendous insights into the Christian life and how we actually can live in victory here ,and grow in Christ as we were meant to. I wish I had read this book 30 years ago.there was so much in the book that God was speaking to me through that I took a marker pen to highlight so that I can go back and re-read and really take on board.because of the insights and truths in this book, shared so well by Dr Neil,I have already purchased other books in this series, all available on Amazon books. and am currently working through other books that link into this. The central issue is God,s truth which rightly applied as a heart response by us,leads to freedom from the slavery to the lies that we have believed. All of us at some time have had bad things spoken to us or over us even as children which we have carried around in our lives, and which has kept us in bondage, not being the complete person that we were meant to be. This book is firmly based all the way through in the Wisdom, truth and love of God,as revealed in the bible with all the relevant scriptures notations.Check it all out for yourself. As Dr Neil points out it is not a power encounter but a TRUTH Encounter, and us living in daily victory down here on planet earth. As you read you find yourself saying "I'M like that" and," sometimes I do that" or "think like that".He manages to look at a number of areas that are just very very helpful. As a Christian you want to grow and bear good fruit. That is why I read the book.and it certainly ticked a lot of boxes.

Required reading for all serious Christians
This book was recommended to me and, though always sceptical of reading other peoples theories, I found this book very helpful. It has helped me enormously to find and realise my position in Christ - that of a beloved son and true child of God. Many Christians know these facts but to actually live them out is not so common. This book will encourage and enlighten many Christians who are in the thralls of self-pity, rejection and denial of the true work of the cross of Christ.I loved this book and am now re-reading it to take in what Dr Neil has written, and it has blessed me and will now do so again.
