Life-changing! A must have for drama teachers and their students everywhere!
Mark Wheeller I just wanted to say that I taught lesson 2 in your ‘Missing Dan Nolan” scheme today, and my Year 9 GCSE Drama group were utterly enthralled. It’s not the first time that I have used your play - but it is the first time that I have used your scheme - I’m so glad I did! It was goose-bumps galore by the end of the lesson - they didn’t want to leave - and it was home time 😂. Such mature, respectful emotionally intelligent and imaginative responses that showed a real commitment to the characters and their story. And guess what? None of the success of that 2 hours in my modest drama room can be measured or judged by anyone in terms of ofsted criteria - but I know how special that lesson was - in so many ways. Thank you Mark - my Drama teacher spark was well and truly reignited today, and 22 x 13 year olds left my room feeling inspired, eyes opened, and with a real feeling of what it means to be human x

Drama Sceme
Disappointed overall although I have to agree that the soap scheme is really good and the most useful part of the book but I felt the remainder was weaker and for me uninspiring. Probably wouldn't have bought if I had received it as an inspection copy.

Some great ideas
This book has some really useful ideas and saves a bit of time. Needed adapting for my classes but very useful

Brilliant
Had a quick skim through but what caught my eye was the y19 nuclear war scheme of work. I will be using that, as I think it is an incredible idea. Also, Mark Wheeller co-wrote the Edexcel GCSE, so it helps having his own view of things!

Great teacher, half hearted book
I am a fan of Mark's both his plays and the man himself (I've been on two of his teacher workshops) he is a brilliant practitioner. This book however, does not showcase that. It require you own some of his plays, this seems a bit like cynical marketing and it just feels a bit light. If you are an NQT or are looking for an intro to his style this is great but otherwise I would save the money and put it towards spending a day at one of his workshops as that is much better value for money.I do feel bad posting this review.

Be warned.
If you were looking for a scheme of work that you can use class by class think again. Some of the activities say 'Class 1 & Class 2'. And the activity wouldn't last more than 20 minutes. Waste of money. The book is VERY lightweight, and there are barely any pages. As a drama teacher, I can tell you, that this is totally unusable in the classroom. Avoid. There are better free lessons online. This would be a rip off for a fiver. I say this as, the book is not usable!
