Regenerates!
I love this moss because it reliably regenerates into fresh green LIVE moss. I have a very large pinguicula collection and a few terrariums, so this "feature" is desirable and it's a sustainable option - just one pack to get started, then an endless supply of moss for more projects. For best results, rehydrate with distilled or RO water, keeping it just on the wet side of moist, and blast it with very bright light. My fastest growing batches are always the containers that sit about 6" below a 100w equivalent, 5k white LED flood light bulb. I don't even need to cover it to retain humidity. It starts greening up in about 2-3 weeks (you can tell it's regenerating because it's a more vivid green than algae is). In about a month the new first tufts are growing in and in 2-3 months it is grown out a lush layer of long fiber strands. I also find having live sphagnum in my propagation boxes is more effective - less inclined to mold and rot my cuttings and I suspect it helps with gas exchange for the cuttings' tiny baby roots. The Besgrow spagmoss in the compressed packs will not regenerate - it must be these loose bales. For some reason, I haven't been able to regenerate other brands, either. I think the vacuum and pressure for the compressed boards eliminate all living cells, while these loose bales are just dehydrated, so the cells just go dormant until rehydrated. Highly recommend for carnivorous plants, terrariums, moss poles, and top dressing for moisture-loving plants. The pics included is my ping nursery, a project I just did about a month ago for my leaf pullings. The moss was taken from a bale I got a year ago and you can see it is still able to come back.

The only sphagnum moss brand I will buy
I have only used this brand due to positive reviews and recommendations from other people who use it for carnivorous plants and orchids and my own personal experience. I made the mistake of ordering a different brand only because it was $4 less expensive and arrived a few days earlier and that moss literally started to grow mold on it, which I personally have never seen happen before, thus ordering this brand again and re-transplanting a Nepenthes. Luckily, I hadn't transplanted my remaining plants. This is high quality sphagnum moss all around with very little of the hard little pieces in it. I have never had problems with this brand and have recommended it to other people as well. This is 100 percent highly recommended in my opinion and I will never make the mistake of switching brands again to save a few dollars as that was a total loss and I promptly threw what was left away and re-ordered Besgrow. Lesson learned. A well deserved 5 stars for consistent high quality.

Very nice moss but slightly expensive
I really like this moss, despite having to pick out alittle bit of debris(shown in photo). It holds the mosture very well and provides what my plants need. This 12L pack makes an approximately 49x5 moss pole with a 5 inch space on the bottom for soil or bark. So I actually have 44x5 of the pole filled with moss. I would buy this moss again but wish it was ess expensive.

Excellent moss!
This costs more but the quality is top notch. Other moss typically has a lot of debris and plant matter in my experience. If you use moss for climbing plants in poles or in orchid substrate you won’t regret spending a little more for this.

Long, fluffy, amazing quality
This product is top notch!I needed some high quality sphagnum moss to use as a substrate component for my orchids. I keep phalaenopsis, oncidium, paphiopedilum, and many more exotic kinds. Some of them needed repotting this spring. I have epiphytes and terrestrial orchids. Every orchid I have is in a unique mix that is optimized to give each plant the correct amount of air, moisture, and nutrients. Some of my orchids are grown semi-hydro style, potted in solely LECA (in gravel form, Turface). But not all of them do well in that medium, which is where this sphagnum moss comes in.I use: bark, moss, lava rock, coconut chips, charcoal, turface, sometimes perlite, all in different combinations.Sphagnum moss is a major component of my mixes. It provides excellent water retention, aeration when packed loosely, and some antimicrobial properties. This specific moss is very high quality. If you check out the Spagmoss website they explain how the moss is sourced, and it shows in the quality of the product. They hand pick it from cultivated moss fields in New Zealand and bring it to processing centers via helicopter where it is cleaned and air dried carefully. The strands are intact, they are very long and fluffy. The brick form it comes in expands immensely upon soaking with water. I only needed a big handful of it dry, to pot up 5 different orchids (mixed with other substrate amendments). To easily pot up an orchid, I would recommend soaking the moss in a small bucket and then squeezing it gently to remove most of the water so it is damp. Working on a tray is best so you can mix your substrate up and not make a big mess. Wearing some gloves helps. Mix some pieces of moss in with your other amendments and carefully fill in space in and around the root ball.If you need a long lasting high quality sphagnum moss for orchid potting or any other purpose look no further. This stuff is amazing!

The best Orchid Moss
This is the best Orchid moss. Very clean and a little goes a long way. I only use distilled water to soak it and make sure to squeeze the weather out before I put the orchid in with it. I will purchase it again when i need more.
