Very nice and fun lamp, the bulb itself is soft rubber, you squeeze it and kind of abosrb the surface color. However, noted that the light sensor doesn't work very great on shiny, glossy surface and most likely it will turn to white light(no color). Besides it doesn't work on dark color too, such as grey or even navy blue, other than dark colors everything is pretty good!When you switch on it, the color sensor will be on all the time even though you are not 'absorbing' colors, not sure if it will drain the battery or not.To conclude, everything is doing good and the color sensing ability is great! (Despite dark color), still recommend it if you want some color for your room!

This is less of a lamp and more of an art/conversation piece, and we love it. It works like this- place it on top of something with color (say a red placemat), squeeze the bulb, and it lights up in that same color. It's fun, and forces you to think about the colors around you. It also makes for a fun mood-lighting lamp. My only qualm is that there aren't too many possible gradations/hues of colors. In other words, there are only a few blues (very light, light, dark), but all in all it's a wonderful addition to our living room.

Just bought it today and it's very fun to play with.
