A great 'first drill' or household drill for everyday tasks
I have bought this for my friend who recently became single and decided that she was going to completely overhaul the house to celebrate. I felt that she might be needing a bit of help in the form of power tools this Christmas! So, I've given this to the man in my house to inspect and he's given it back to me to have a go with... and we are both impressed. The drill is lightweight and easy to manouvre for use on jobs. I'd say it's pretty perfect for someone such as myself, unused to working with these types of tools and therefore slightly awkward using one. It's not half as heavy as my husband's top brand drill and feels easier to handle. I tried drilling through wood and it made light work of the job. Also not too loud whilst in use. And pretty straightforward to operate. My husband feels it's a good buy for the price, especially with the drill bits and extras battery. I think it is a pretty good 'first' drill or a perfect drill to keep around the house for odd jobs, everyday jobs, and quick jobs. I am reliably informed that as this isn't a hammer drill, it's unlikely to do much of a job on a solid material like thick concrete and might struggle with some bricks. But we haven't tested that one out (it's a gift, after all), and the supplier states that it should be able to tackle such materials. So I'll wait and see. Having said that, I'm fairly certain that my friend isn't going to need to drill holes in concrete, and if she does, she is likely to enlist the help of someone else.So will she be delighted with this boxed drill set, and get some use from it? Yes, I think so, it will cover a multitude of jobs I'm sure. I hope she's as pleased as I am.

Simple to use.
Ok as with any drill its not the drill its the drill bits which make the difference. The drill is good, not out of this world but ok for simple/easy diy. It would be no good on a building site or on any heavy duty tasks. Again as above I would recommend upgrading to a set of top quality drill bits, I already had some and the drill performed really well with these but not with the set provided. The drill is fine and the two batteries is a good idea but not throwing away my heavy duty mains drill any time soon.

Flimsy plastic construction
You pays your money and takes your choice - as my mum used to say. I don't need a robust, Bismark build quality drill driver, but I would like one that doesn't feel as though it's going to disintegrate the first time it's used. The drill direction and off switch is very small and there is no visual indication of the current mode (clockwise, anti-clockwise drive or locked off). The box is flimsy with poor quality latches and my drill box was scratched and appeared to have been knocked. The absolute decider for me was that I could not for the life of me remove the battery from the body of the drill. I have large-ish hands and a strong grip, but the thing would not shift. My son popped round (6'3" power-house builder who knows a thing or two about tools); I'll spare you his opinion of the drill and even he struggled to detach the battery - "that's a bit ******** stiff!" And so I'm sending it back. Son has promised me a drill from his stash: Heaven only knows how long I'll wait for that... which is why I wanted to buy a drill in the first place. So, if you can afford a few more pennies, consider another brand.About four months later, the seller emailed me with an offer of a replacement item and assurances that they were investigating the shortfalls that I had indicated in my review. I have to say that this is a good level of customer service, if a little delayed, and therefore worthy of editing my original review. My son did give me a drill with which I am absolutely thrilled and - importantly - the battery can be very easily attached and detached. It is also 'brushless' - whatever that means - which is apparently an important quality in a drill... Who knew?!!

Good product, but one battery failed but was quickly replaced
This is a good drill/driver, it has the voltage to give good torque and the two batteries should be useful for bigger jobs. I used it to build a garden fence and was very happy with it. Only downsides: the button to switch between forward and reverse is easy to move by mistake and the wide collection of screwdriver bits that are included don't include a basic phillips style head (but do have just about everything else.)*Update - the day after writing this review, I found that one of the batteries had stopped working, despite relatively little use, being only recharged once. Unfortunately, there is no longer a Problem with Order button (I've had the item for a month) and Amazon doesn't seem to have any other mechanism to allow me to contact the seller, so I've had to knock off 2 stars.** Further update - managed to get in touch with the seller by using the Ask a question button. The were very quick to send a replacement with no quibbles, so the two stars are replaced for the excellent customer service.

Charger failed in 15 minutes - returned
The product itself (Detlev Pro 21V Combi Drill Cordless Screwdriver) looks very good, however, I did not get a chance to test it out. While charging the battery within about 10 minutes there was a loud bang. Nothing looked amiss except that there was a slight burning smell. The charger adapter was displaying the green indicator. I removed the battery from the charger and put the second battery to charge--the indicator in the adapter was showing green. I took the battery out and still the adapter was showing green. So there was no way for me to know if the batteries have been fully charged or the charger has failed. In my view this is bad design, just in case I would not have heard the bang how would I have known that the charger has failed? So returning the item.It is a shame that the drill itself looked very nice. But I reasoned, if the charger has a bad design how could I be sure that the design of the drill itself is not compromised?
