Arrived in "new" condition, and it's been another helpful resource for me as a music educator. Shows notation for these songs and suggestions of activities for some of them, though I often find other activities to add to the songs. Also, some of these songs lean towards religion (as folk songs tend to do) so as of now I have decided to not incorporate those ones into my classroom.

This is a great book. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is because there is a production issue in that any book I get has half a song missing on page 6. I messaged a friend with the same book and he said he has the same problem.

Many directions for the actions/games were impossible to follow. Certainly not described well enough to know how to lead a class.But I do use many of these songs for classes and private teaching. I highly recommend folk songs to aspiring singers of all ages.

I teach primarily via Kodaly method. I bought this several years ago and haven't used it once. It didn't have many songs that I recognized or found practical to teach to K-3. I tend to teach memory songs, play the games that accompany them, practice internalizing the song for additional weeks, then learn to write the song using dictation. I also use folk songs in choral music. This book just didn't fit my needs.

A lot of the songs in here are great to use, but the book doesn't contain many of the folk songs that I remember from my youth. Even songs that I did sing in my youth are changed, with simplified rhythms and pitches. Also be cautious, as a few of the songs have lyrics which are inappropriate for today's school setting. That being said, it's a fine resource of songs to pull from for your classroom.

This is a great book chock full of tons of melodies and tunes for kids or adults to sing or play on instruments. There are games that go along with certain songs too which are great for little ones to help learn music.

This book is a must-have for the Kodaly elementary music educator. Great price for 150 high-quality folk songs to be used with K-5 students. One of the cheapest and best folk song collections. Also great for Kodaly levels training. I highly recommend this and it's companion: Sail Away.
