DIY and SAVE MONEY
Years ago my timer went out and the replacement was made in the USA, this one is not, BUT.....there is a cheaper one on the market, do NOT get that one, I think it is $11.00). Installed this timer and it got my fridge to work. You can't beat the price. If I was to call the repair man.............65.00 dollars...........his timer (which he would have to order) 67.00 dollars..add tax and shipping. DIY is the way to go.

This part solved the problem.
My refrigertor, a GE side by side (model TFX20Z), would have a small puddle of water under it on some mornings. I could tell something was wrong with the defrost system because ice was bulging the back panel of the freezer outward. Also, ice was forming on the back panel. I took a good guess it was a faulty defost timer. After installing the new defost timer GE WR9X502, which was very easy, the puddles stopped and the refrigerator works perfect.

Easy DIY project and I am NOT that handy
This fixed my General Electric GTL17JBSERBS fridge. The part does not feel cheap either.I had no idea what to do until I did some research. The tricky part is finding out why the defrost isn't working. There are three parts to the system - the thermostat, the heating element, and the defrost timer. I discovered you can manually move the timer to defrost mode. Nothing needs to be taken apart - you can advance the timer right from the fridge with a screw driver. I advanced it until the compressor and fan shut off - this means fridge is in defrost mode. After I did that the defrost system kicked on (I could feel the heat on the back panel of freezer). That told me the thermostat and heat element were working. And the timer wasn't! So I bought the timer and installed it and now fridge is working fine.

Poorly packed
Appears to be new but it was not wrapped and there is some damage to the housing. I hope it works.

Product Worked Great
Product worked great. In addition to buying this product, I would also purchase a thermostat. After installing the Defrost timer, two months later the freezer built up ice and fridge began to get warm.

Works - 6/25 timer
Works great. Originally got a replacement from an online parts store, it worked - but it was the 10/35 timer (10 hours on, 35 mins defrost). Freezer would frost up and stop cooling after about a month. The original was the lower (6hrs on/25 mins defrost?) version and this one matched up perfectly. Fridge been running great for 3+ months so far.

Lasted less than a year.
Defrost timer controls the defrost cycle in the freezer compartment . This after-market unit failed after a year. I purchased a replacement through Amazon after a year because they are cheaper (1/3 the price) than one purchased from a GE parts dealer. I decided that was a dumb move. I returned the second one purchased on Amazon and purchased a GE branded defrost timer, paying approx. $60 for it.I tested the 1 year old timer with a multi-tester. It was definitely not functioning , not switching electric current to the defrost heater.I'll know in a year or two if paying more money got me a better quality timer. While we don't always "get what we pay for", we generally "pay for what we get". I bought cheap the first time and I got cheap quality.
