Excellent Beginner+ Guitar Course in 'Getting There Faster' with Chords, Keys and Chord Progressions
Since I am a beginner, and a 60 year old starting guitar late in life, so to speak, I think this latest book by Tim Scullion is exceptionally helpful in introducing the basics. Then Tim steps us up to real practice and chord changes. I followed his practice exercises, and I became more accurate in my chord changes and faster. I worked with one of my friends in my sewing circle - we practice together with our Martin travel guitars - and she also picked up chord changes quicker and more accurate. Now, I'm at the bar chords, and learning them. There is a lot here that benefits the beginner and takes us to a new levels with easy to understand explanations - and the practice exercises are excellent and should not be overlooked! When we started in our John Denver and Bob Dylan songbooks, my jam partner and I were making chord changes easily. Tim's new book is easy to understand, covers the open chords, chord progressions, bar chords shown in colorful chards (and even hints for us beginners), suspended bar chords, finger-style exercises with hammer-on and pull-off, power chords - for those with electric guitars, then minor chords. Best of all are the marvelous colorful charts, this book is well worth every dollar you pay for it. It is thoughtfully put together, even to include lists of suggested songs you may wish to play as you learn, some wonderful favorites listed (and NO hokey Old MacDonald stuff either!) Truly a MODERN TWIST to GUITAR LEARNING and Learning progression. It will take you from beginner to intermediate - all in an easy to understand 155 page book. Don't be deceived by others that show a glossy modern cover but are the same old, same old 1960s books. I find this book contains a cohesive learning structure that will carry you all stages of learning the guitar - FAST from Tim's Shred Tech !!

Shred techniques
Looks like a well written and comprehensive book but seems rather complicated in its approach. I had been expecting something that would be more easily digested and suitable for a beginner guitarist. I think it would suit someone who has been playing for quite a while better and perhaps wants to brush up techniques or change tack but seems a bit daunting for those who are less accomplished to take on board!
