Helped me get a 36!
This book was the perfect length for me, but I could imagine others might want to buy another practice book to use in conjunction. I originally bought the large red ACT practice book as well but never even cracked the cover because I felt adequately prepared after going through this one. In October I got a 32 which, frankly, was a disappointment but I had done no prep prior to taking it. After buying this, I took the February ACT and felt a notable difference in the test using some of the strategies I learned and earned a 34. If you buy this book, I would make sure to take notes on specific strategies that stand out to you and review them right before the test. There's also a lot about mindset which was helpful and got me a 36. I don't think this would be the right book for someone aiming for a score under 30, but it is a vital purchase if you want to get your score from a 32 to a 36.

30 to 34 = much better shot at son's preferred college
Without any prep, my son scored a 30 on his first take, which was below what we expected given his pre-ACT and PSAT scores. He improved on each section the second time, using this resource. Starting three weeks ahead of take two, he spent 1-2 hours a day preparing unless it was a practice test day. He used this book and the red ACT-published book in combination. The Barron's book was thin enough that he was able to get through much of it quite quickly as he mined it for advice about general strategies and specific types of questions. After that, he began what I see as the key to his approach. For each three-day cycle, he would take one of the red book's practice tests on the first day. On day two, he would go over the items' explanations in that book for any missed questions as well as any items he had circled during the exam because he was guessing bw two or more answers. On day three, he would use the Barron's 36 guide to focus on learning principles and strategies related to items he identified the day before as the lowest remaining hanging fruit. He thought the the most important aspect of this book was helping him to identify ways to more quickly answer questions as well as those that he was unlikely to answer correctly without spending more time than he had.

Great Book
Very good book! Great tips and practice problems with explanations. I slept on it the night before my test to hopefully absorb all the knowledge.

Not for teaching material. Best for those that have taken the ACT previously with a score of 30+. Helped raise my daughter's score from a 31 to 33.

Barron's ACT 36 with Online Test: Aiming for the Perfect Score
Barron's ACT 36 with Online Test: Aiming for the Perfect Score. This one is good to work on specific questions.Has one practice test included with this one. Will help to find your weak spots so you can work on them.Other books we have been using over the years has more than one test in them.I find this is not a stand alone test prep but great to use in addition with other books.Overall can't hurt and why not invest a bit in order to help boost that score since so much rides on it these days.
