When I initially saw the price I thought it was for two walkie talkies. So when I received the box and saw it was for four I thought these would be like the kids walkie talkies we’re all familiar with. As soon as I opened the box it’s clear these are not toys. These are very well built and finished. They look far more expensive than they are. There are lots of features and options that we thought really made these impressive. There’s a headphone jack on top in case you want some privacy or you’re in a noisy location. But be aware the jack is very small (2.5mm) so your cell phone headsets probably won’t work. Another cool option they have is hands free operation. You set up the VOX option and the sensitivity and when you speak it will transmit. They have multiple channels (22) and privacy codes(121) for a total of 2662 combinations. You pick which channel and code you want your network set up on and dial it in to your walkie talkies. With 2662 different codes you probably won’t have to worry about other people’s walkie talkies stepping on your transmissions. You can also monitor another channel with the Dual Channel Monitor Option. It has a battery meter on the lcd screen and also has switch to power saving mode to extend battery life. They claim it’s 3-4 days in standby.Okay so let’s get to the main question. How do they work? We tested them around the yard last night and as far as I could walk down the street (1/4 mi). The performance was very impressive. Crystal clear with no static or anything. So today we spent some time with longer distances. If you are on a lake these will transmit about as far as you can see. So these would be great for watersports. However, I didn’t read anywhere that they were waterproof or even water resistant so keep that in mind. If you’re on land and it’s fairly flat with trees and houses in between, it can transmit from 1-2 miles pretty easily. They shouldn’t have any problem at a park, campground, parking lot, etc. If you are directly behind a large hill or mountain, there’s almost no coverage. It seems to be able to go through house walls fine. I don’t have a cruise ship to try them on but they worked great on our pontoon boat.Overall these are really impressive. Again, they are very well built and look like a quality product. Everybody who tried them at one point said these are not toys. So if you’re concerned about the inexpensive price and thinking these are like the walkie talkie toys for kids, forget it. These are serious walkie talkies. They have features and performance that kind of shocked me considering you get four for less than $50. Incredible value for such a quality product.

This is my honest review of a great experience with these Walkie Talkies . We ordered these for communicating in the Mexican jungle where we are developing some projects, I was very pleased when they arrive on time for my trip to Tulum Mexico nicely packaged . I didnt know what to expect as they are smallLet me tell you , I'm very impressed as they have worked very well and have great range. Our property is 3 miles at its widest point and the communication came loud and clear . The unit colors are bright and easy to spot if you drop it.which happened several times. lol,! We dont know how waterproof the units are so we stored them at night in ziplock bags with desiccant in them to absorb any moisture You can certainly use rice if you dont have a desiccant to absorb any moisture.. These walk talkies are very well built and all of features . They have 22 channel x 121 privacy codes which will enable you to have virtually over 2000 combinations of channels. Our favorite feature was the VOX hands off feature which will transmit upon hearing sound. Our rechargeable batteries lasted a long time, we didnt have the need to charge them everyday as they last a couple of days of hard use. The lcd screen includes a battery Metter, there is also a power saver stand by setting that will extend the battery life to at least 3 days.These units are full of features such asAuto squelch system which mutes the background noise to get crisp and smooth sound,.Auto monitor function checks for signals fast with pressing monitor button.The Auto memory function keeps all setting when the walkie talkies power off.Auto scan function will find an active channel fast with a click of scan button ,It will Auto switch to power saving mode when the radios are not in use and finally Auto remind, which will remind you you to charge or replace the batteriesI suggest making a few copies of the manual and laminating them so that every user can carry one as we did .Our experience with them was great with virtually no dead spots when we were deep in the jungle within towering 40 to 60 ft trees... They use 2 AA batteries and we recommend using using rechargeable batteries for saving money.We are very happy to write this review as they were great ! The added plus of a 3 year warranty make buying these great little walkie talkies a no brainer,, Highly recommend !!!

I ordered these walkie talkies for a family reunion type cookout coming up. I thought this would be easier than trying to communicate by cell. I am also hopeful they will be more reliable depending on cell coverage at the park. I have not had a chance to really try them out. They have some nice functions. They are light weight. Compared to walkies I bought like 15 years ago, I wonder about frequent drops damaging them. Putting the clips on the back was hard for me and my nails.I think value will be determined individually depending on what is important to the buyer. The location the walkies are used at, will determine the reliability and clarity. There is a jack for an earpiece but if you don't already have one and want one there will be additional costs. There will always be additional costs for batteries. Which the quality of the batteries will determine how long the walkies will work with constant usage.For basic use for events (not everyday use per say) they are nice walkie talkies.
