I hadn’t watched this when it was first released. Simple stories over the 100 years or so of this railway. A bit dated but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really like this series. I am in my 70s and have always loved steam trains. It is quite funny in Clear Ahead Part 1. Excellent Picture & sound. Well worth getting whether you are a steam buff or not. I do not understand how I missed this series when it was first aired though.

This is a really good example of a great BBC childrens series. Good story and excellent scenery.

I lived 33yrs of my life in the Severn Valley and this branch line played a major part in that experience. I loved the BBC series when it first aired and I have been waiting nearly forty years for it to come out on DVD. I still love the story and the countryside scenery is unrivalled. One problem though. Why oh why was the film not digitally remastered, because the original picture quality has deteriorated over time and now is quite grainy and has lost its vibrant colour. Please, please do a remastered version and clean up the sound track. Then you will have a winner for years to come.

I purchased for my parents as part of their Christmas gifts. Neither of them remember this from TV. They just loved it. A bit slow to start off in setting the background story, but once it got rolling (no pun intended), they watched it all in three nights.Lovely, wholesome family entertainment, and a bit of history in to boot.Highly recommended, especially for anyone who has family or friends with failing memory. This would be excellent for an old folks home.

Wow!! I can’t believe I missed this series on television. Being a Steam Train fanatic this was quality drama with new and established actors bringing to life the evolution of what is today one of Britain’s most famous, revered and import rail travel routes. A must for all you Steamies out there!
