I love it I'm so glad I bought it

...Do not expect to fence with it.Granted, it's *very* pretty.The blade is very shiny, well-weighted and has the correct amount of flex (well, it's a little wobbly) for fencing. With a few washers and a heavier pommel, I got it weighted perfectly.But the first night I took it to rapier combat practice, it got bent, and the steel would get burred on every blade-to-blade impact. It's basically chrome-plated mild (or "milder") steel that will not stand against stainless or higher-carbon blades.I know this item wasn't listed as a "fencing sword" or "practical blade" weapon, but the only reason I'm writing this review is because in other places where you can buy it it is.Simply put, Don't buy it if you plan on using it as a sword.It's a costume item only. Although I'd be careful with *that* usage too, as the point is extremely sharp -- you will need to grind it to an oval, or do a hairpin-bend on the tip or epoxy a hex-nut on the end if you take it to a costume party. Otherwise, all sorts of mayhem could possibly happen.
