FarberwareHands-Free Automatic Can Opener

A must for older people, doesn't hurt your hands and fingers.Love it.

Love that this is completely automatic and so easy to use. After many years of using my hands for everything from computers to shop use the manual can openers of this design put me in pain. It took forever to open the dog and cat food cans for daily feedings and bigger cans were out of the question, had to ask my wife to do it.I had some doubts, believe me, and they were heightened when I opened the battery compartment to find it only took two AA batteries. Was this thing going have what it took to open cans and keep going, without burning thru batteries like mad?A year later and I can say "Yes!" it does just that and keeps going. I use rechargeable lithium batteries (got them and a couple of chargers here on Amazon) and they last so long I have to remind myself to change them.ZERO issues with it, too, it just keeps going and going. Going so good, that we are buying some more to send to friends and relatives to help them with their aging hands. And buying a spare, too.Wife is now a convert, too. At first she thought it was silly, but when she noticed how cleanly the tops came off and how little mess was left in the dog and cat food cans, she switched to using it too.Do yourself a really, really big favor and buy it. You'll love it!

I've had a Kitchen Mama for several years and it's starting to give out on me. They've gone up in price and I missed the sale, so I thought I'd try the Faberware one. Generally I like Faberware products. This is a case where I should have just gone for the one I know I liked. The Faberware opener works, but it only uses 2 batteries (as versus four with the Kitchen Mama) and so it takes longer to open. It also seems to make an odd ridge in the inside of the can which messes up my can saver top (I use it to open green beans I add to my dog's food). I love this style, but I wish it had a bit more power. The magnets (as usual) aren't strong enough to pull off any of my tops, but there are no sharp edges either.

I love the idea of this: hands free, compact. But it only lasted 2 years. The batteries aren't the problem, it's the alignment of the blade and gears that seem to be off, preventing the actual opening of the can even when it circulates around the lid several times. :(

My son has one of these. At first, I didn’t know to to use it. With instructions from my son, I was amazed as I’m so used to the dinosaur manual can opener. This is so easy to use and I’m happy with this purchase!

This auto can opener works and is convenient when I’m cooking with little time or multitasking. Just stick it in the lid appropriately (see directions) and press the button, then you can walk away to go do other things while the can is opened for you. There is a specific way to put it on the lid, but it’s not difficult. Batteries last a decent amount of time, not too long, not too short. It is somewhat noisy. I would purchase again.
