A delight to read with my grandson!
Wonderful illustrations and story - has sparked all kinds of imaginative play for me and my 3.5 yr old grandson. I believe it will be a favorite of his for some time to come. Definitely great for kids in the 5-7 range, as well!

Lovely illustrations
The book is too short! I want more pictures and thoughts. I guess that means I need to open my imagination and create the rest of the images and thoughts myself. This gives me ideas on how I can occupy my mind while we are forced into social distancing. 🖖🏼

AI have been pretty serious about buying books for my kids. I read ALL the reviews before I buy. I was not disappointed, this book is ADORABLE. Its super wordy, but that isn't always a bad thing.

This is a Christmas gift
I liked the story and the pictures. What my grandchildren will think I don’t know. They are 4 and 6. We talk about imagination and they have some interesting ideas of what it is. I am curious about their reactions!

This is a picture book for a certain type of child.
"To the person I need to live: My inner child. She remembers how to imagine and how to express, through writing, who I really am."The above is the authors note, dedicating this book to a very particular and usually stiffled part of the adult-self.Though the images in this book are beautiful, the words and narrative are mature for any reader under the age of 8. The symbolism and metaphors for imagination are literal and often unrelated asking the reader to think in complex ways that a child simply will not and it's likely, as many reviews have said, that the child will grow bored and disinterested.HOWEVER, If read as an adult (if you, like me, enjoy picture books) it does give you an idea of how to reconnect with child-like imagination. The words are written in a way that brings you out of the uncanny valley very rapidly at times, plonking you directly back into the harsh realities of the adult realm. And if this isn't an accurate representation of reality for the "inner child" I don't know what is.I would say that this is not a book for children. This is a map to the childmind directing an adult into the realms of reading and imagining like a child.Given the authors note at the beginning, it achieves it's goal. Connecting the inner-child to the outside world. The 3 star rating is more so due to how the book is publicised. I simply don't feel it is for children.

Intriguing
This book does really gets you thinking and opens up your imagination, gets you thinking. "I can do this!" is what I thought after reading it. The only problem is that I had a hard time reading it because all the words were jambled up., it was hard to read. It would be hard for a child to unscramble the words.
