excellEX-17/1IN JVCC EX-17 Steel Desk Top Tape Dispenser: 1" wide, Blue/Grey

I bought this unit to modify for an oddly specific task. I am using foam board to customize the drawers of my hobby room, and wanted to finish the edges with tape. White electrical tape is cheap and does the job, but pulling off a long piece and then wrestling onto the foam resulted in a lot of wasted tape and bad language. I needed a holder to give resistance to the tape while still allowing me to dispense it without a twist.Enter this unit. I have two of it's 3 roll brothers, which I highly recommend. This guy is not as heavy, but I think it should provide enough resistance to the pull of typical masking tape. It is well made, and should you purchase it, you can check off "tape dispenser" off of your life checklist.A note to anyone who wants to duplicate my application. The included roll center is for 3" masking tape rolls, not the smaller diameter electrical tape, so I had to 3D print a custom center, and order some 6mm rod from Amazon to act as an axel. It doesn't have quite enough weight or grip to resist the pull of electrical tape (that stuff is really stretchy and sticky!), so I still need to hold the unit while pulling. But once I have extracted the length I need, I can let go and use both hands to remove the tape off the cutting edge, and onto the foam.

Great dispenser!! just the right weight and smoothness when you need it , Highly recommend if your looking for a 1inch wide, 3inch core dispenser.

This is a rugged tape dispenser for 1" tape with a 3" core. I made the mistake of trying to thread the tape under the yellow guard. The guard is for protecting the blade (and you) when not in use. You turn down the guard and cut the tape as with a smaller dispenser. The post in the middle keeps the tape from rolling back into itself. All in all, very well designed. There is a version for a wider tape.

Nice, well built product BUT it states that it's a 1" tape dispenser. I put a 1" 3M prescription roll of tape in it & the metal sides of the tape dispenser wouldn't let the tape pull freely off of the spindle. You had to pull extremely hard just to get the tape to come off. Not what I was expecting & am returning the product for credit.

yup - we usd to use the 3M dispensers but stopped because the blades are $25 ea or something ridiculous. Yes, if you can even find the blades - just the blade is $25 ! ! ! !!This think looks lightweight but it does not move!

This is a solid construction, tape dispenser, which should last a lifetime.

This is a moderately big tape dispenser that is solidly built and has a no-skid base that really works. The cutting blade is good and sharp - which likely why there is a plastic shield you can swing up to cover its teeth when you're going to move it. It comes with only a 3-inch core/roller, but my old 1-inch 3M roller fits perfectly for using regular rolls of tape. I'm glad I ordered it.
