Does not come with software
I got this as my new laptop does not have a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drive. Only to find out it does not come with installation software, so now I have to buy media software I installed a free software while I research which is the best software for my needs. In the meantime I have purchase 3 CD'S and went to install them into my iTunes library tried the first one first track ok then I got a message can't find second track so I started all over again same thing happen looked at the CD looked OK placed in cd player (hi-fi system) played fine put back in drive same thing so i played cd in drve and it played then tired installing into iTunes and it installed ok tried the second cd same thing error on second track played CD then install went ok third CD played first then installed went ok, so I tired it on my old laptop and the same thing happen. I am now thinking about sending it back

When you dont have a bootable drive you need this
I bought this because a 1U server I got needed a DVD to boot from. My new Laptop does not have a disc but what does these days. The USB 3 cable fits into the body of the case, and it's totally flat and secure.Yes, you can use it as a hub and plug everything else into it.The downside, is when using Nero to burn an ISO image onto a Blu-Ray disk part way thru the drive became disconnected, as tho it was unplugged. Not good when burning an image and Blu Ray disks are cheap.Watching a movie disk is perfect.For me its good value for money just worry about what state your PC has to be in when burning a disk, using Nero from my Workstation (that i tried this device on) worked perfectly with my built in Blu-ray burner, same ISO image, same media.

Show up on PC
had all sorts of trouble getting my PC to "see" the drive, I tried everything I could think of to get to see it in explorer to no avail, until I put a disc in it!!! then bingo off we go, so if you have trouble "seeing" this drive do what I did & stick a disc in it!
