See Inside the Ancient World (Usborne See Inside): 1

Our family loves these peek-inside books. In this age of iPads and multimedia, this sort of simple book tech may be on its way out (though I hope not). Our family's history buff uses these books again and again. This one offers a nice peek into different cultures (Mayan, Chinese, Celtic, Greek, Roman, Assyrian...). For war gamers (again, the low tech variety), the books give a great visualization aid; just pop one off the shelf, open it to the appropriate page, and pass it around the table.

all the see inside books are great.we have most of them.this has a bit on romans and egypt that we had read similar things to on the other see inside books but they are still good pages too - plus the remaining pages are great with lots of new information. i would recommend the see inside books for 5 and up.they are all fantastic!

This book , together with others in the series, is extremely informative and well designed . Our grandson has great fun seeking what is behind each covered tag - a very clever design technique. This was an excellent choice and has truly inspired my grandson in his learning.

This book looks great, bought for my 5 year old son who is interested in history for Christmas. I like the various facts and information these books provide, in a simplified way for children.

Bought this for a Christmas present for my five year old grandson. He loves it.

We have bought most of these 'see inside' books now, for children from 5-8 yrs. They are all superb, lots of information delivered in small doses under little flaps. The children now read them on their own.

We like all the books on the series but found this one to be the pinnacle. Absolutely amazing. Every child should have these books.

I bought this before we took our 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 year old grandsons to see the Great Wall of China. Kids that age love to peek under the flaps and they remember all of the information. It was a perfect preparation for the trip.

This book is absolutely fantastic for so many reasons. Lift the flaps to discover detailed, yet bite sized pieces of information about different ancient civilizations - the Ancient Egyptians, Assyrians, Celts, Ancient China, Ancient Rome and Greece and Mayans.My reason for 3 stars is that under some flaps, some inappropriate information is given. For example, a reference to human sacrifice is given in the Mayan section, other sections have similar details which are inappropriate for children who are otherwise fascinated with this wonderful book. It is hard to recommend this book for this reason. I'm not quite sure whether I'll keep this book on my child's shelf. It is such a pity because MOST of this book is awesome, I just wish the gruesome details were left out.
