WD My Passport wireless SSD was a good purchase.
I purchased the western 2TB Passport wireless SSD external drive and it works very well. The set up is a little problematic but, once I figured it out, I have found works very well. It interfaces with my iPad Pro 12.9 inch third generation and my iPhone 11 Pro Max Cell phone.I have been downloading thousands of photographs into it as well as 100s of videos.I purchased this to use with my LumaFusion 2.0 program. It works very well. I was really surprised at how seamless it works. Lumafusion has a section so that you can use the hard drive for direct input/output without using the SSD space in your cell phone or iPad.There is some lag time while it is loading but, once everything loads in, the editing is seamless. Then, you can offload your finished project back into this SSD hard drive. When editing, I plug the SSD drive into its charger and set it on a small table near the couch. Then, I can sit on the couch with my iPad and edit. It is seamless. I have also done the same thing with my cell phone. I don’t know what the wifi range is but, it seems to work very well. One drawback is that when you are using this drive wirelessly, you have to go to settings > Wi-Fi >MyPassport SSD on your iPhone or iPad.I looked at many other units and felt that this was the best. That’s why I purchase it. At this point I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I have not found any problems to speak of. I feel it was a good purchase.

Buyer BEWARE Drive is NOT BRAND NEW and INELIGIBLE FOR THE 2 YEAR WESTERN DIGITAL WARRANTY
Buyer BEWARE! DO NOT PURCHASE MAJOR ITEMS LIKE THIS VIA AMAZON. The drive I purchased was advertised as BRAND NEW and it WAS NOT! Western Digital gives a 2 year warranty on these drives but since it was NOT a brand new WD will not warranty the item. Both The Awaken Shop whom I made the purchase from and AMAZON will do NOTHING to help me. Amazon’s A-Z Guarantee is total BS. Both The Awaken shop and Amazon made their money and now could care less. Amazon refuses to do anything! I’ll NEVER PURCHASE A MAJOR ELECTRONICS ITEM AGAIN VIA AMAZON!Drive died. Did NOT a drop or damage in any way. Advertised as brand new. It was a replacement drive to another customer and Western Digital reviewed my purchase invoice and drive serial number and said they could NOT update the warranty since I was NOT the original purchaser and person that held the original warranty. Buy directly from WD. Once bitten twice shy! Contacted the seller and they could care less! Typical take the money and RUN! Highly recommend you purchase elsewhere! Total RIP-OFF!

Not impressed so far.
Just got this item today. Comes with next to no documentation. Just a small quick start post card with a few images on it. OK, fair enough i guess. Step one is to turn on the unit. Makes sense, except the unit i got had no charge in it at all leaving me wondering if the unit was DOA right out of the gate. Spent a couple hours charging it up. Step one, turn it on. Step two is to down load their custom iOS(or android) app. Easy enough. Step 3 is connect your phone to the wifi signal it broad casts and enter the pw that comes with the unit. Did that 5 or 6 times, no luck. This was while connected to the unit's 5ghz band. I switched the band over to the 2.4ghz band and pw worked on the first try.Opening up now their application, there's a few steps to walk through. Some of which timed out or failed. I had to restart the app a couple of times. There is no interface in the iOS application for file management. You can't create/delete folders or move files around. That was a bit surprising. Also, when in wireless mode, the wdpassport does not show up in Windows10 file explorer as a drive at all, only a network device. When clicked on, takes you to an internal web dashboard which wasn't expected. (This was both when my win10 machine was on my network and when the win10 machine was using the passport's WiFi). Plugging the device directly into the win10 machine via a USB cable did produce the expected results (a mounted and usable drive)Still exploring features and options but its been a bit of a headache so far. Can't recommend it.
