Yes, you really can write in the rain.
As a welding inspector, I can confirm that this does in fact write in the rain. It can also withstand a torrential downpour of contractor and vendor tears when I tell them they have failed an inspection. 8)

Very high quality.
I think it could be a little less bulky and still work with the 973 ring bound books which are the ones I use. Just a bit much for a cargo pocket.That said, this thing is very nice and the fit & finish is top notch. The different elastics they use have the perfect amount of stretch and strength to do the intended jobs.
