This works great as my personal cloud
I've been trying for some time now to set up a backup system in our guest house so that if anything happened to the main house, none of the data would be lost. Some of this is pretty sensitive data, so I didn't want to trust the cloud--no way for me to verify security. Granted, a dedicated hacker could probably get to my data anyhow, but it wouldn't be worth the effort it would take for one person's personal data, where cloud storage might be more tempting, And the Buffalo hard drive fits the bill.

Outstanding Customer Service
Like many of us, I am just techy enough for some things but there is a limit. I got so far, but the app on the Buffalo website was for an IPod/IPad and had to locate the best one. Tech Service was patient and thorough. I am up and running!

App funktioniert überhaupt nicht.
Vorab: wird I'm privaten Bereich zum Speichern von Videos und Fotos benutzt. Bisher habe ich immer externe Festplatten benutzt, die mir jedoch mit Laptop bereits ein paar mal kaputt gegangen sind, da sie so gut wie nix aushalten. An sich ist das System super, Vorallem wenn man über PC oder Laptop benutzt funktionierts es sehr einfach, schnell und unkompliziert. Die App, was für mich ein sehr ausschlaggebende Kaufgrund war, ist jedoch Schrott. Mal schnell ein Video abspielen, Foto suchen oder irgendwas hochladen funktioniert überhaupt nicht. Nach 3 Videos hängt sich die App auf, blöd wenn man gerade jedoch was sucht, muss man also ständig neustarten. Herunterladen der Daten aufs Smartphone funktioniert so umständlich, dass es schneller ist diese vom PC rüberziehen. Würde es zumindest nicht nochmal kaufen und mir stattdessen meine Fritzbox als Cloud einrichten.

Really happy with it so far
Works flawlessly, good quality for the price.Has whatever you need as a home user, and you can even setup quiet times, since the hard drive can get noisy under heavy usage.Can use SMB, FTP, Media Server, and web acces via Android / iOS app.Gigabit Ethernet provides more than enough for streaming movies to my TV, and backing up my stuff at the same time.Has an USB port to which you can connect another hard drive, should you decide to move some stuff on / off it while you're away from home without keeping your main computer on.All it's shortcomings are due to the low price mostly: noisy drive at times, can't easily SSH/Telnet into it, can't install open NAS firmware, no RAID mirroring (since it's a one drive bay).Later edit: Lacks NFS protocol which is used by IP cameras normally to record.

Promesse mantenute
Un NAS che mantiene le promesse. Per un uso personale consente un facile accesso ai files sia in rete che via web. Dopo qualche difficoltà iniziale nell'apertura delle porte, non per colpa di Buffalo, ma per la mancanza del PnP sul modem Fibra di Tim, tutto si è sistemato, veramente consigliato, anche per la cortesia dell'assistenza Buffalo raggiungibile via Skype.
