Okay.... I actually purchased this just for the metal container, which is beautiful. I recently got an expensive set of pure pigment watercolors, 36 colors total, and was having a hard time finding a container I liked enough to put them inside. I had already purchased some empty half pans with magnets so was looking for something metal. I purchased and tried a few different things but returned them because they either didn't fit the half pans correctly, or the layout wasn't ideal (I didn't need attached mixing areas which would take up desk space). I kept seeing this set and loved the container but it felt like a waste to buy it just for that.... however, I finally did and I am extremely happy! At around 17 dollars it was close to the same price, or cheaper, than some of the other options I tried but this came with some nice extras like water brushes (I've never tried one before and was always curious). The container itself is very sturdy with great latches and it lays completely flat when fully open. Each side is more than deep enough for my half pans, and when placed close together can each hold 48 half pans! That's 96 total if you want to use both sides! I haven't decided yet if I want to use both sides, but there is plenty of depth for it and you can use the included plastic tray to divide them or add something of your own. If you use both sides it's probably better to leave this on its side when closed so none of the dried paints are upside down, or maybe just get a piece of metal to use as a layer you can place on top of the bottom one and then move to the side when you paint.I'm so happy this fits all 36 of my pure pigment watercolors (in half pans), and with enough room to space them out in a way that lets me read what each color is as I sit at my desk to paint. I like knowing there's still plenty of room for more paints too, which I might need if I decide to buy a few more pigments, or to mix up some pigments in one pan so I can get new colors easier without mixing them each time in my palette. As said, the container is really well made, sturdy, and gorgeous. Everything was packaged well and looked pretty so this would make a great gift. The included paintbrushes seem adequate, if perhaps a little cheap (one of mine had a wobbly connection). I am looking forward to trying the water brushes, and it's nice that a small sponge and watercolor paper chart for the paints are included. I haven't tried the paints, but they look nice for the price and I'll probably keep them for random sketches or give them to someone else. Since there is no lightfast rating for any of the colors I wouldn't use the paints for anything serious, but just for fun is fine. Overall, it's a great set!

This is the best one for gift giving hands down. Why? Because it's shrink wrapped cello in an outbox, plush the paints are in a metal latched tin, and the brush supplies are in their own cardboard box, too. Everything is new and wrapped well. The paints are tiny (like 1x.5 if that), but there is a blank labeled color card to make your own swatches and 50+ cool metallics. For someone just learning or interested in watercolor, this set has everything but paper and an eraser. Looks good for all ages and levels since you wouldn't need to mix and create colors unless desired. Definitely a good set for detailing. Because there's not any room between pots, you might want to be sure to get a plastic mix tray for water.Any beginner receiving this as a gift would be excited to use.Note: If you're trying to cover paper bigger than A5 for your artwork, you might want to get a very basic primary color watercolor set as a supplement that has bigger pots for landscapes or a lot of one color. Otherwise, you would use up these minis fast.

Value for money. I am happy to use it because it shows quality of work. Great product and size and it didn’t cost me a lot .Fun to use it and cover well when I used.

I just bought this set and I love it! The complimentary paint brushes that are sent with this set are my very favorite brushes out of the 200 brushes that I currently own.The colors of the paint are vibrant and beautiful and is encased in a sturdy metal case. I just love using this set! Highly highly recommend!!

Excellent paints a very nice brushes. The colors do not resemble the swatch card so you’ll have to guess at some of the colors.
