Switch 3-way LED Bulb
Positives: bright, warm light. Environmentally friendlier than CFLs. Expected long life.Negatives: Price. My wife and I for years have used CFL bulbs, and were satisfied, though they have their drawbacks. Years ago we replaced all of our Christmas tree bulbs with LEDs, and there was a significant reduction in our electric bill during the holidays. We are within a couple of months of retiring, and we decided to replace the most used bulbs in our house with LEDs, hoping they will reduce our electric bills, and that we will not need to replace them in the time remaining to us. This bulb gives plenty of light at all 3 levels, equal to or better than the CFLs they replaced (we compared them side by side), and the light is warmer than that of the old CFLs. We have not yet received an electric bill since we installed them, so we don't know the impact on that yet. However, when we replaced our old standard bulbs with the CFLs we saw a noticeable reduction in the amount of the bill. We hope to see the same reduction with these and the other LEDs we installed. The only negative is that, as far as I could find, this is the only available 3-way bulb, and thus more expensive than it would be with some competition.

Comment on the Switch 3-Way L.E.D. "bulb"
While the bulb itself looked a bit odd and unlikely to deliver the conventional light, it actually outperformed my expectations to a large degree. Sure enough, it does work the same as the original incadedscent bulb in all three positions. There is also substantially less heat generated compared to a regular 3-way bulb.I will have to say that I have had some previous experience with L.E.D. lighting while installing emergency vehicle equipment in my line of work as an electronic /radio tech for the city. So I had learned that L.E.D. lighting could be feasible in professional applications, but I wasn't so sure about domestic use until I tried it.As for longevity or durability, I haven't had the three bulbs long enough to comment at this time. However, the 3-way L.E.D. s have worked flawlessly ever since they came out of the packing. The lighting is just fine.If they do actually perform the specified lifespan, then they will definitely have been worth the money. You must kep in mind that all new technology is pricey in the early stages, but prices will come down somewhat as their use spreads and the scale of manufacturing improves.Yes, I would buy them again.

one Stars
Only a couple of year old and it doesn't work. Not a money saved if it's life is so short.

Works great for a little while then dies.
When purchased, this bulb was expensive but did what I expected it to do. However, it has already died. For something this expensive, it should have lasted much longer. When it was working it was great. It just didn't have the quality I expected given the price point. Not recommended.

Not compatible with glass enclosure with ridges
This bulb casts light in a pattern, not evenly. The glass enclosures of my ceiling light fixtures have ridges, and they greatly exaggerate the light pattern thrown by the bulb, making a dappled or spider-web pattern of light on the ceiling and the upper part of the walls. Other bulbs in the same fixture don't do this. If you want that effect, great, but most people probably do not.

Nice, warm light
This 3-way LED lightbulb is AWESOME! It is 2700k, so it has a really nice, warm light. And the 3-way setting allows me to turn it up as needed so I can actually see to do things. I like this bulb as well as a traditional tungsten bulb. And that is REALLY saying something because I am extremely picky about my lighting. Unlike the CFLs, there is absolutely no flicker, and while I prefer the light from a halogen, the reduced wattage and much longer life makes this a better bulb. I like halogens for doing art and also for use with crystal prisms and casting crisp shadows. But for normal lighting and reading this is great! Thankfully I only have one 3-way light because this puppy was pretty pricey, but worth it in the long run. It is also the heaviest bulb I have ever used!

Great bulb--- in the long run this bulb will save a ton of money!!!!! It is the 401K of light bulbs and energy conservation.
This light bulb is by far the best ever made. It is expensive but if you calculate the energy savings and bulb life it will save you a ton of money over the long haul. Additional plus it the color of the light-- nice and warm like the old incandescent bulbs. We are not fans of the CFL's and their purple lights!

So far so good
This is my first LED light bulb - apparently it's inevitable that these will replace incandescent s. So I'm taking the plunge. This bulb is in my reading lamp which is a three-way switcher. Replacing an old style bulb which I think was 60/100/150 watts - I could be wrong. Whatever a "standard" three-way bulb is.Anyway - this one does work, it does respond to the three clicks on the lamp. The differences between the three levels are definitely not as pronounced as they were on the old bulb, but I honestly didn't expect that they would be based on the description of this bulb. There are three levels of brightness, they all work. I'd say that this bulbs highest brightness is about what the old bulbs medium brightness was. It's certainly enough to read by.The "whiteness" of the light is fine by me.It does get hot, but so did the old bulb.It is heavier than the old bulb. I honestly can't imagine a lamp so fragile that the weight would be a problem, but it is noticeably heavier. Again - no surprise as the description about its weight was fine. All in all I like it. I hope it lasts as long as they say it should.
