It does very well keeping my ring device charged
I purchased this on Nov 3, 2024 and had it installed the next day to help power my ring doorbell camera. 7months later and I still have not needed to nor have I removed the ring doorbell to recharge the battery. This solar panel has done an awesome job of keeping it charged. It’s been siting at around 78-80% charge for months now since like around Christmas/New Year (I started at 100%). I said I would recharge it when it gets low, but the solar panel prevents it from getting low. I don’t think I’ve ever gone below a 75% and I check it often. It’s now almost June and mine sits at 80%. I’m very happy with this device.

Convenient Power Boost for Ring Doorbell
I installed the Ring Solar Charger on my battery-powered Ring Video Doorbell, and it's been a helpful addition. The installation was straightforward, and the charger integrates seamlessly with the doorbell. With about 3-4 hours of direct sunlight daily, I've noticed a significant extension in battery life, reducing the frequency of manual recharging. However, during overcast days or in shaded areas, the charging efficiency decreases, and the battery may still require occasional manual charging. Overall, it's a convenient accessory that lessens the maintenance of the doorbell's battery, especially in sunny conditions.

Reliable and convenient
I installed this June of 2023. I want to say I did not have to charge the doorbell for at least 18 months, ever. It was great. About that time though it started to drain, quickly. For the past 5 months I’ve have to repeatedly charge the doorbell. Maybe I was spoiled those first 18 months, as now I’m annoyed I have to charge it about once a month. However, it beats having to charge as often without the solar panel. All in all this was a great purchase. Just wish it held the charge a bit longer as it gets about 5-6 hours of afternoon sun. Side note, I’ve dropped the screws several times and lost one. Come to find out I was eligible for a free accessory kit which included new screws. Shipped free as well. So that was awesome.

Be careful not to pinch the wiring between doorbell and charger
Purchased Sept 2024. I only get 2 to 3 hours of direct sunlight but the charger was keeping the the battery at around 75%. I was happy with it. During January and February not as much sun, colder weather and battery got down to 50%. I decided to remove the doorbell and charge it. When putting it back the wire that plugs into the doorbell did not go back into the slot and became pinched between the doorbell charger. I did not notice it and It must have broke the wires inside as it does not charge now. Be careful when mounting and make sure the wire does not not get pinched. Even after I removed the doorbell and reinstalled without the wire pinched still not working. It could be designed a little better to prevent this.REVISED. Ring support contacted me and he ran test and determined the solar panel was not charging. SO, Ring Customer Service is great. Unfortunately I have an older doorbell unit and was unable work with the newest solar panel. They did offer me some credit towards an updated doorbell. I updated to 5 stars because of follow up with Ring

Keeps the camera charged
Works great. We have a large covered porch and I was worried because there is little direct sunlight on our covered porch. Only had to charge the camera once in the 6 months we have had it. It was winter when light was less and a very stormy week with mostly clouds. The camera usually doesn't get below 70% battery now.

Great product and excellent customer service!
Update: I initially wrote a 1 star review because I started having issues just after the return window closed. Soon after, the Ring company contacted me to help resolve my issue. They were professional, thorough and worked the issue until it was fixed. It's been a week and my issue (getting false messages about people ringing the doorbell) has completely stopped. I'm happy with the device and the excellent customer service from Brett of Ring.As for the solar charger itself. It works great. I have it in an area that is shaded a few hours a day and it still charges my device effectively preventing me from having to manually charge the battery. The install was easy, and it has a rubber gasket to prevent rain from getting between the solar charger and the ring doorbell cam. Great buy and well worth the money.

Updated - Seems to charge enough to keep battery levels steady or add 1% per a week.
------ORIGINAL REVIEW titled "Does not charge even with a fair amount of Sunlight"This charger does not charge my camera. It gets about 5-6 hours of direct sunlight every day. The uploaded photo was taken at 6pm and you can see that the shade is just approaching at that time, In that app, I see solar connected status but I never see the charging icon and the camera is losing about 1% of battery per day.The only positive is that the installation was fairly straightforward though the instructions are not that good.At this point, I cannot recommend this charger.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------REVISED REVIEW titled "Seems to charge enough to keep battery levels steady or add 1% per a week."With some great customer service from Ring, we went through some troubleshooting steps . Afterwards, Ring determined the next best thing to do was to replace the charger. The replacement charger did cause the charging icon to show. The charging icon does not show the majority of the time but at least now it does show some of the time and I have seen the battery % actually increase 1% from time to time. I don't think that it will actually charge the battery to 100% on its own, but I can say at least it is doing a great job of keeping the charge % steady with an occasional increase of 1%.If it will continue to keep the charge steady , then it meets my needs. Thanks Ring for the amazing Customer Support!
