Absolutely love!
Ordered this for my son who has been really interested in learning to play guitar. I was super pleased and impressed with this as it literally came with everything short of a pick and an amp which can be picked up on the fairly cheap side. This guitar is absolutely gorgeous and just by the looks, looks expensive! I remember my dad buying a cheap beginner guitar once and this far surpasses that for a beginner! It has been absolutely wonderful for him, he has gotten a few lessons from an instructor as well as some youtube tutorials and a lesson here or there from his aunt who is plays professionally in a band. Everyone has raved over this guitar being not just beautiful but sounds great and tunes easy as well! It's been great for him to pick up and learn real quickly and easily on it and easily connects to an amp with no issues. Doesn't come with a strap but we were able to pick one of those up as well and it does have the studs for a strap to connect on to. This beams quality craftmanship and sounds fantastic. I would highly recommend especially for a beginner!

A guitar from the future
I played with the GTRS S800 guitar. It is a futuristic guitar for the modern age. Setting it up was like setting up any other guitar. I plugged it into the amp and I was ready to go. On the guitar is an effects knob. The knob will shine one of four colors depending on the current effect. There are only four effects to begin with, but downloading the app opened up a wide variety of additional effects. I could play with each of the effects in the app and then assign them to the four colors. Assigning the effects allowed them to work even without the app. The app did more than just assign effects to the guitar. Using the app, I could set a drumbeat, tune the guitar, look up chords, and more. Though admittedly, I wish the tuner was more feature rich. Playing a string will show the note, but there wasn't anything I could find to indicate what the note should be. I had to look that up online. Once everything was tuned, it was easy to play different chords. Between the different effects and the robustness of the app, I found this to be an impressive instrument.

Fantastic Features
I'm not a musician. I started and quit trying to learn how to play guitar in the same month about 23 years ago. For that, I bought a Fender Squier Stratocaster starter pack, which came with a pretty nice guitar, extra strings, tremolo bar (also known as "whammy bar"), strap, cord, amp, picks, tuner, flimsy bag, and a book. Back then, that cost me just over $200.My son has been taking piano lessons for over 6 years. This GTRS S800 (blue) guitar was a gift for his 10th birthday. For the features, despite coming with less gear than the Fender starter pack, this is an excellent deal, especially if you can find it with a discount code or coupon, which appear from time to time. The case is a very nice and padded case in which to store the guitar, and it includes a neck support with a velcro strap inside, to maintain stability on the neck when in transit. It's a very good, soft guitar case. There's also a pouch on the front to store additional items, like a cord, extra strings, picks, etc. The carry handle is padded, and it also has padded shoulder straps to carry it like a backpack. The guitar itself is very hefty, sturdy, and solidly constructed. Everything is well thought out and securely installed where it should be. The guitar did need tuning out of the box, but this is something people should know: all new guitars will need frequent tuning/re-tuning until they get broken in, because the strings haven't been used much except for QC testing, and they'll stretch a bit before settling down. There are three pick-ups, and you may notice that on them, some of the metal "tabs" inside may be more or less recessed than the others. The best explanation for that is during quality control testing, some of the strings may pick up louder than others and those things have been adjusted (by being pushed down or raised out) in order to balance out the volume of each of the strings for uniform consistency. So, those are not defects in manufacturing, unless you notice some strings are louder/quieter than others. The strings on this one are perfectly matched in volume, so no issues. The neck is solid and straight. The GTRS S800 just seems very well built. It's impressive right out of the box.We purchased a small portable amp from Pyle, along with a cable from Fender. We also had to buy a strap and picks (which conveniently came in a bundle). The Super Switch is where things get super interesting, because contained within the guitar is a mini computer where you can connect to a free app to install preset sounds of your choosing, meaning you do not need to purchase a separate distortion pedal (or series of them, as my guitar-player friends did). You simply turn the knob into the "ON" position, wait for it to stop flashing, then you can press the center of the dial to toggle between the factory installed style presets, ours were just different levels of rock/metal distortion, and then you can tweak those by using the pick-up selector switch and tone knob.We have not attempted to use the app to change any of the factory settings on this guitar yet. We did bring it to a guitar lesson for my son and the teacher was very impressed with the guitar, even indicating that he is putting it on his "to buy" list. He tuned it and took a turn playing some stuff on it and said he wished he learned on a guitar like this one.The on-board computer is powered by a cell phone style battery, charged via a USB-C cable (included, but without the power base adapter - you'll have to use your own). This guitar was about half-capacity on battery out of the box, so I just used an old Microsoft USB-C charger to recharge it after it was fully drained; it took less than 2 hours to finish charging. The guitar is still usable if the battery runs out; you just won't be able to use the features embedded in the Super Switch, so for example, the preset distortion options will go away if the battery dies while playing. With the Super Switch, you can also take advantage of all the features, even without an amp, simply by plugging headphones directly into the guitar, to jam without disturbing anyone. The only complaint I can mention is that the protective film on the bridge/saddle was a little tricky to remove, but it wasn't that big of a deal - and at least the plastic didn't come apart and leave tiny annoying remnants, as can happen with kitchen appliances and the like. All in all, this is a super cool guitar with fantastic features, and if you can find it with a 50% coupon, definitely jump on it. You'll just need to find an amp and get yourself a strap and some picks. Certainly cooler than most of the more common "guitar starter packs" out there, even if it comes with less, because it offers so much more.

Who's the Dummy?
It's a smart guitar, but I still can't play so I have to ask who's the dummy? It's probably me so I gave it away and they seem to be having a grand ole' time. Maybe I should take it back and devote myself because the sound is great and it seems so easy to play!

Great smart electric guitar with a lot of on board effects works fine for a new novice player
Overall: Recommended! A great starter guitar and the design is fantastic. So the guitar looks really great and it comes with a lot of effects to get you started with high end tones. I will go into more detail but would like to say that i am a novice and not a pro and will be giving you my opinion as a starter level musician. I have only owned one other guitar. So for starters I think the software works well with the GWF4 Wireless Footswitch! Get the multi-effects pedal sold separately since it is such an integral part of getting sound from this electric guitar. You do get access to a lot of effects that would otherwise take a lot of pedals to achieve. You can also just forget about all of that and just use the guitar with any pedal you choose. My only critique here is they should have just included the pedal. What they call the Intelligent Processor System or IPS includes 9 classic guitar sims, 126 guitar effects, 40 drum grooves, 10 metronome variations, and even an 80-second looper. All these settings can be quickly edited through the GTRS App which I think is pretty intuitive. Overall a lot of value, the looper is especially fun for a solo musician. The construction of the guitar feels top notch. Solid body, with a Canadian maple neck, and a maple fretboard that does feel really great to play. Overall, a great time with a lot of new dimensions for play. It even comes with a great carrying case that fits perfectly. Cheers!
