Brilliant filter, cheap, quiet and works great!
I really like this filter, it is very quiet (a gentle humming, the air pump is louder) which is a bonus but also it really does make the water clean, we have a 40 litre tank and it manages this very well, it also was a very reasonable price. It has made my life so much easier as I no longer need to constantly empty the tank out. The filters are also very easy to clean there is one in the pointy bit below and also one inside, just above it. It helps to clean the motor but its clearly instructed in the manual. Plus when these filtere are less efficient they look very reasonable to replace.I have had this a couple of months now and still works perfectly so unsure why there are some negative comments. I think it's fantastic! Plus my fish seems much happier.

For up to 50 litres (UK)
When I received the filter I panicked when I looked at the box because it said it was for up to 50L, whereas in the picture above it shows up to 37.8L. I thought I had been sent the next size up and I know that this is a powerful filter so you really do need the right size. After thoroughly checking, I found that I had received the right product, but the picture above is actually showing US measurements! The filter was very easy to install, literally out of the box and straight into the tank. When you first switch the filter on there is a whoosh of cloud, but it's just the carbon and zeolite cartridges activating. I have had the filter for about a week now, and it's kept the water crystal clear whereas before it was cloudy. I'm not sure when the cartridges will need replacing yet though, but to avoid upsetting the good bacteria, I will rinse one out in siphoned tank water and replace the other. If your tank has high ammonia levels then this will not solve the problem. The cartridges will HELP, but you will still need to buy live bacteria such as Nutrafin Cycle or put media in from an established tank i.e. decorations etc.Although the instructions say to keep the filter at least 1cm below the surface of the water, I put it just below the waterline to agitate and aerate the water to give the fish more oxygen. They seem to love it so I'm happy.I fully recommend this filter as it's a good price, the replacement filter pads and cartridges aren't too expensive, considering you only need to change one of them once a month (or less), gives great water agitation and aeration, and the filter isn't too big for the tank (my tank is 33 UK litres), and most importantly it does the job!

Brilliant
I ordered the Elite Stingray Filter 10 for my 43 litre tank on Friday afternoon the day before Christmas Eve to replace my old noisy Fluval pump. Imagine my suprise at receiving it the following day Christmas Eve at 11:30am, what brilliant service from Royal Mail!I replace my old Fluval mini 200L/Hr pump which was noisy (loud humming) and the rubber feet had broken but otherwise worked okay ( approx 7 years old). Water was a bit brown though and had been for some time even after cleaning water and filter. I would have ordered another Fluval but I had never been that happy with the one I had got, the flow was never that good and I had to put it at the bottom of the tank to reduce the noise (I'd super glued the impeller to stop rattling when it was new).Back to the Elite pump. I followed the instruction which were easy and turned it on and it rattled! So I followed the recommendation of another buyer and put Vasseline on the impellor and re fitted, silence, no more rattle and woosh the water flow was brilliant. I set it just below the water line to create a wash to help oxygenate the tank and my 4 goldfish loved it. Once a day for about an hour my fish used to spend time at the top of the tank gasping but now no longer, they really seem to be much happier than before, water is no longer brown and has remained clear. A very good product at this stage(5 days of use)still silent and a brilliant postal service.

Very good filter
Bought this bad boy for my 22l tank then moved it to my new 50l and has worked brilliant in both tanks. Powerful and quiet you can fault it. Only reason didn't give a 5 is the replacement media is a bit pricey if you replace as recommended by manufacturers

great silent filter and nice clean tank!
I got a new filter because I wanted one that was more quiet and this filter is brilliant. There was a small vibration noise that I could hear only just so took the advice of another review and put a little non scented vaseline on the impeller and now its practically silent. I also had the problem of green water in my tank, algae. As I'm new to having fish I'd been looking all over the internet for ways of getting a nice clean tank. I started of taking out all the ornaments in the tank, cleaning the glass, clean the filter, using a gravel cleaner and doing about a 40% water change every 2 days, I think I done this for about a week and a half, now they get about a 25-30% every 3 - 4 days, and the tank is crystal clear. The filter is picking up loads of stuff too, I tend to put the net over the bit at the bottom when removing the filter just to catch any big bits of rubbish that come loose. Also this filter is very easy to clean and comes fully with instructions that are easy for first time fish keepers like myself!I'm happy, and happy fishes too!

Does more than it says on the tin!!
Powerful filter!, I have a 110ltr tank live plants and moss, snails and a 9in fantail goldfish and this filter is more than capableEven in my 110ltr tank with only one big fish i have needed to direct the water flow towards the back of the tank to slow it down a bitIm trying to find a balance between the flow not too high that it spins my water lettuce around like a washing machine would but not too low to annoy my goldfish with a constant jet of water in her faceIt looks so odd in the tank that it actually looks great, especially because it does such a good job too, it is easy to clean (once you have understood how it comes apart) i have live plants so have removed one of the media (little baskets) but thats a personal choiceIf i had the recommended tank size for this product and smaller fish, i don't think my review would be as positive though, i am Just fortunate that lack of funds dictated this purchase rather than one more powerful than this is

Check the plug
Great little pump/filter. Replacing one that died after 3 or 4 years, but arrived with a UK plug so had to buy a converter.
