Philips myLiving Italo LED Suspension Light (1 x 5.5 W, 230 V Integrated LED) - Clear [Energy Class A]

Easy to fit and looks nice when installed. The supplied cable is VERY long, much too long for most modern ceilings, but can be shortened by trimming or by coiling up inside the attached ceiling rose. It's designed to hang from a hook screwed into a joist in the ceiling (original ceiling rose goes in the bin), the supplied cover just slides over the cable to the right height and a grub screw tightens it onto the cable to hold it up. In fact it's the cover that makes this 4, rather than 5, stars. In my opinion it does look a bit cheap, and lets down what is otherwise a nice light fitting. The light itself is a molded LED unit with a frosted lens which gives a fairly bright but not too cold light. It appears to be non-replaceable but Philips have given it a 5 year warranty, so I'm not that bothered! Overall I'm pleased with it, but may change the black plastic cover for a ceiling rose in the future.

looks great, easy to fit, good light quality and colour

This fitting is very simple, based on the European ceiling hook system which is incompatible with most UK homes with ceiling rose loop-in wiring. To fit the supplied unit, a replacement connector block is needed with secondary insulation (e.g. Wago terminals in a box). The alternative of fitting the transparent cable into a UK rose means cutting it to length and stripping two layers of transparent insulation. Note one wire has red cotton marked as LIVE, although as this is for AC mains this may be pointless.A bigger issue is the glass shade - this CANNOT be removed for cleaning without disconnecting from the mains.Ever heard of dusting, Philips?Even after rewiring and fitting a hook, the very springy cable makes fitting the cover and getting the glass shade level a challenge.Once fitted the LED light is very warm and cosy with a low energy bill, just don't get finger marks on the shade when adjusting it...

Awful purchase, the glass itself is nice but no way to remove from the light for cleaning. The mount is cheap - it is literally just a dome of thin plastic and has no way to secure to the ceiling nor is there a bracket to secure the wiring. Finally the colour temp is not very warm, neither is the light very bright nor are the leds replaceable. Ended up buying photographic gel filter and placing it over the light to change the colour temp to something more warm. Paid under half the RRP for this and still feel ripped off.

Look great once fitted - better than in the pictures. The shades are slightly bigger than I imagined but in a good way. Also the grey is a tiny bit darker than the picture implies. A little fiddly to fit as Philips have skimped a bit on the fixings and hook which holds the light up. Good soft LED light - bright enough for worktop task lighting but also just right for background/mood lighting.

Supplied without ceiling bracket so had to return. Looked nice though.

The shade on the light arrived broken. As it was a replacement for the same one , we just installed old shade to new fitting. Otherwise would have returned.
