I’ll just say, nothing feels more authentic than a wicker banneton basket lined with a couche. But for your everyday stuff, silicone does the trick! This set is simple but easy to use. Great for fancy-looking bread, even if it is something standard. Silicone is great in the dishwasher, unlike wicker, which is even better. The sling is also a great touch. Recipes often recommend lining with parchment, but that can backfire if you’re not careful.

It's a nice silicone banetton. It doesn't smell, like others I've tried. Nice size for a 1kg loaf. It takes up little space when collapsed. I know it could possibly go straight in the oven but I don't want to bake that way and prefer to use a dutch oven. The kit comes with a sling, too; a bit too small for my liking but it does the job.

The Banneton Bread Proofing basket and sourdough starter kit has everything that you need in order to start your sourdough starter and make your bread other than the actual ingredients to make your starter. The kit includes all of the following items: 2 silicone bread proofing baskets, one 9" round one and one 10" oval basket, one silicone spatula, a silicone bread sling a 34 oz Sourdough starter Jar, a feeding day tracking bracelet, a thermometer sticker, a breathable cloth cover, a metal dough spatula, a stainless steel dough whisk, a silicone brush, a bread trimer with 5 replaceable blades and a pack of 12 bread flouring PET templates which is basically a stencil to design your bread. All of the silicone items included in the kit are made of 100% food-grade and BPA free silicone and are able to withstand temperatures up to 446 degrees Fahrenheit. While you should not have adhesion issues if you bake your bread in the proofing bowls I would recommend lining it with a light dusting of flour which will reduce the likelihood of this happening. I do prefer to bake by bread in a Dutch Oven though over the silicone bread bowls but that is just a personal preference. The proofing bowls are collapsible for saving room when not in use. If you like to make your own bread or are looking for ways to save money especially in today's economy where food costs are constantly on the rise then you may just want to invest in this kit. I love the bread that it makes and my family is happy too! Have nice fresh bread with no preservatives or other chemicals in it to make it last longer and you will taste the difference. I highly recommend this kit.
