Love this comforter! Silk is the way to go.
Wish it was a wee bit wider to fill out my queen size comforter cover from Raymond Waites, but no other complaints. This comforter has a good solid weight to it (I like blankets to have weight, not be super weightless like down), has no chemical smell out of the box, has a yummy cushy filling that is way less noisy than down (in fact noiseless - the sound I get is the cotton from the comforter cover), and no feathers or quills to poke you or shed all over! The Oeko-Tek certified sateen cotton fabric of the comforter itself is super smooth, and I wish I could get a comforter cover as smooth as that. But, to protect the comforter, I use a comforter cover, so I don't get to enjoy the awesomeness of the fabric. My cover is still cotton sateen but not nearly as tightly woven as the comforter itself.I bought the all-season regular weight, not the "winter" weight, and unless I were to live in a super duper cold place like the Northern Great Plains, this will be sufficient for all seasons. For regular below-zero temps and/or if you have expensive heat, I would get the winter weight. I only wish I had gotten the king size. It's soooo comfy.

A very good purchaise for its money
Silk filled comforter is the best kind of comforter for me. It breaths, it keeps you warm, but not overheated, and it's lightweight. I sleep like on the cloud! The only little flaw is it could be fitted more even, but it does not affect the comfort, just would be more eye pleasing. Because I use duvet covers, I only wash it once a year on a delicate mode in the basement laundry in our building and dry it on the fire escape (luckily mine doesn't face the street) in a sunny summer day. It's still in perfect condition after so many years.

Strong Odor
After a week out of its plastic case this silk comforter still gives off a strong odor.My wife got some silk comforters when she was in China and we did NOT have a strong, persistent odor problem when we opened the similar looking plastic cases they came in.This comforter has sewn through circles all over it, as if the filling might shift. Neither the product photos on Amazon nor the comforters my wife brought back from China have sewn through places securing the filling from shifting. Possibly this filling is different?Unfortunately the seller is not really Amazon. These people don't take back comforters. An expensive mistake and a lesson in taking a chance on a retailer Amazon fronts for.Silk comforters are really nice for all the reasons people elsewhere have commented on and I was hoping to buy several more for our family. At least I only bought one to try it.The outer covering is quite pretty though. Perhaps that is worth a star.UPDATE: Five days in a direct hot sun has greatly reduced the odor. We had been told to put our original quilts out in the sun for a day every six months. That suggested there might be no harm in trying this. A second week of indoor airing had not helped much; airing in a hot sun did.

This has me thinking that the reason this silk comforter doesn't have the odor of silk is not because it is so super high qualit
Bought this one and the Dreamland Mulberry Comforter also sold on Amazon. The Dreamland comforter had a noticeable smell so returned that one and kept the Natural Comfort.Would have given this one 5 stars if the OEKO-TEX certification number from the tag attached to the comforter was valid (certifying that the materials were quality and free of harmful substances). However, OEKO-TEX has no record of such certificate number. So, I contacted Natural Comfort, and was told that they had a new certificate number (even in such a case the old one still should have checked out with OEKO-TEX and it didn't). Well guess what, according to OEKO-TEX the new number given by Natural Comfort is completely unrelated to silk comforters or the Natural Comfort Company and is for baby clothing. This has me thinking that the reason this silk comforter doesn't have the odor of silk is not because it is so super high quality, but because the silk fibers it is made with have been treated with some kind of a chemical to remove the smell.

looks good
I received the comforter yesterday liked the looks of it. have not try it yet, not sure if it is warm enough at 63F during the night. It has an small inspection opening on the side of the comforter so you can have a peek to the inside of the comforter. The only thing I noticed and not feel very comfortable about is that the silk insert is that some area of the comforter is much thinner than the rest of the area. I am not sure if this is normal or not.

Good Buy
After doing all the research, I couldn't find this comforter in a double size, so I'm making do with a queen size in a double duvet. It still drapes beautifully and should be a good solution to northern California winters. It has the faintest odor of silk, but since I'm a silk lover, I know that will dissipate before long. In fact, I like the smell of good silk -to me it's crisp and outdoorsy. I'm giving this item four stars only because it wasn't available in double.

Very comfortable
I was experiencing horrible night sweats under my heavy down comforter. Research led me to this silk-filled alternative, and I absolutely love it. Not one sweaty or uncomfortable night since. And it feels just as cozy as down. Not sure the weight will be right for the hot and humid summers ahead, but so far so good!

One of my top 10 purchases for luxory, ever!
Highly recommended! It has only been a few weeks but this is already one of my all time top purchases for luxury. I have own several comforters (down, bamboo, organic cotton, etc) and nothing comes close to this silk comforter from Natural Comfort. Mulberry silk is the only way to go for filling, avoid Tussah and related wild silks. Super light weight yet every bit as warm as my heavier winter down, with better heat regulation and breathing. Drapes well and the cotton shell is soft and quiet, no annoying crinkling.I just bought a second one as a gift.
