Fabulous stick!
This walking stick is a fabulous stick! My only complaint is that the lanyard is in the wrong place. It should be at the top, but it's right where I put my hand to walk. I drilled a new hole and moved the lanyard. If you aren't willing to do that, maybe you can just cut the lanyard off... Otherwise, it has tons of character, it's well priced, I take it everywhere. It's perfect for my needs!

Lacks a hand grip area for glove wearing winter use to avoid hand sliding down the shaft.
Gave it 4 stars and requested to return of this item because of the beautiful smooth finish that lacks a hand grip area to avoid slipperiness while wearing gloves or mittens in cold weather.Didn’t realize the need for the hand grip area until receiving this item and comparing it to older walking stick with the hand grip in place. The leather thong is really only useful for hanging unless one is in the habit of wrapping it around your wrist which I don’t do.This item is beautifully made and is the perfect length for casual walking when used for balance or leaning on while visiting.

20 + miles going strong
Love it. I'm a big guy with some handicaps that have kept me off the trails. This staff is strong, it's a great height for 6.333 foot tall guys, and the ergonomic grip has been useful tackling steeper gradients. My only (minor) issues would be that the leather thong is a little shorter than would be useful, and the rubber stopper slips when the staff is less than ~75˚ perpendicular. But love it regardless.

I may have bought a walking stick which is too long any heavy enough. I can always donate it and buy another. But the stick is beautiful.
