Got this for a 4 year old. It's oversized droppers are perfect for little hands and the cups come with matching lids so the dropper can fit through it to avoid spills. Love this!

My kids love making potions with these. It was great buy although the tubes can break free a few uses if your kids are rough (mine are). If they all break they will still have fun exploring mixtures of colors with the big cups. I am even going to use them for painting with my daycare kids.

Beginner scienceI loved the idea of this set. I was attracted to the color mixing idea since I am an interior designer and would like our 5YO to understand the nuances of color and how they are created. So, we set out to conquer the rainbow. She had a blast and is now adept at mixing different amounts of each color to get different results. This is also a fine motor skill exercise in trying to get the precise number of drops into the test tube. I like the plastic tubes...evading the potential for disaster that glass would have! Although I understand the reason for having the "drying rack" for the tubes, I would have preferred 6 spaces for upright tubes instead. The spill-proof cups with color coded lids are nice and can be used for paints as well. I do wish that there had been some instructions with suggestions for other easy experiments. This is a little too simplistic. Included experiments would have raised this a notch!

my 5 yr old daughter loves to use this with her colored fizz tabs in the bathroom to make "potions" and mix different colors!
