Super light and a lot of fun
I bought the mdr-1am2 because I wanted a lightweight, high comfort headphone that can be very easily driven by portable gear. I wanted a fun and engaging sound which for me means a very robust but quality bass sound and good resolution, I listen to a lot of electronic music like techno. I use in ear headphones or IEMs most of the time, this headphobe has some of the qualities of IEMs in a full size headphone form. It is more like an XBA-N3 than one of Sony's popular ANC headphones which is a very good thing. I am a fan of the Sony house sound so these were an easy choice. They will get very loud just from a phone headphone socket, I use a portable DAC/amp as I prefer the sound over my phone, it is overkill power-wise. The bass does not dominate everything but, if you play the type of music that has a powerful bass sound that is what you'll get, it won't make bass light music more bassy. With an IFI amp with x-bass or with EQ you can get very powerful bass that won't distort. Again, it will play at volumes well beyond safe listening levels so be careful with the volume knob.It is a nicer headphone than it looks in pics and than the price suggests. It feels very well made, I can wear it for over 8 hours with no discomfort. It does not isolate well, the cups are ported so it may not be suitable for use around others or in loud places.I'm very pleased with it, I kind of knew I'd like it because I enjoy Sony IEMs so much so, I didn't consider many other headphones, a little bit of fanboyism from me went into the purchase. A balanced 4.4mm and 3.5mm SE mic cable is a nice inclusion, cables bought as accessories aren't usually cheap.

Solid pick but pricey and small
Build quality: decent, light, good materials.Size: headband size okay, but earcups are very small. anyone without small ears will have half of their ears hanging out.Comfort: lightweight, light clamp force but being a closed back, it'll heat up on your ears quick.Sound: (subjective, not measured) fun sounding headphones with decent bass and clear mids and trebles. its sound should suit gaming and movies really well out of the box, unequalized. have NOT tried for studio work / critical listening.Bang for buck: extremely expensive for what it offers. if the earcups were large so it provides more comfort, then maybe the price would be justified.

Best Non Noise-Cancelling and Wired Headphones with Microphone
Sony MDR-1AM2 Hi-Res Headphones: These are the comfiest headphones I've ever worn. I have a huge head (standard caps don't fit) and large ears, and these fit me no problem. The base is soft when you first use them but becomes more pronounced as the speakers wear in. The base kicks a little, but nothing like Beats, if that's your thing. I like a little base, but am more about clarity, and these fit the bill no problem. I use these at the office for music and Skype for Business, they work perfectly for it. The microphone works well, but catches on your clothes so I hold it by my face. A minor inconvenience but FAR better than my terrible USB company headphones. The supplied cable is well made but very short. Extending it with another female-to-male aux cable works fine for music, but it will cause some devices to lose your microphone (like my work laptop did). These are less bulky than the previous version, and they have improved the ear cups to make them more sturdy. They're not noise-cancelling which I like, I don't like the long-term wearing of the Bose's NC units with that feature on. I used to own a pair. They do seal out noise a little, and even soft music will drown out the rest of the office. These come with a soft carry bag, but I recommend buying a strong box holder, they're about 25 pounds. The overall setup is quite bulky for travel if that's an issue. Youtube reviews of these show they're very tough to bending too which is great. Awesome overall.

Best headphones I've used, and I've used a lot
Decided to make the transition from wireless back to wired for the extra sound quality, was a great choice. I've owned Audio Technica M50x, Beats Solos (unfortunately), Marshall Monitors, Bose AE2W and the most recent Bose QuietComfort 35s and these exceed them all, despite the latter being twice the price. I've also tried a variety of expensive headphones in stores from brands such as Sennheiser, Audio Technica, Beats etc and I can safely say these are ahead of them. The bass is incredibly punchy but the sound is also really clear at the same time. My only criticism of the sound is that the treble is really harsh and can start to give you a headache if you're listening at high volumes, so I'd say these might not be for you if your ears are really sensitive, because I do think it started to get on my nerves a bit after a while. As for accessories, starter cable is way too short, longer cable should be a 3.5mm with a 6.35mm adapter, rather than just having a 6.35 stuck on the end of there. (My Fender Mustang amp takes a 3.5mm jack, not a 6.35mm) So be prepared to either buy an extension for the shorter cable or a 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter for the longer cable. Also it's a bit annoying that despite using 3.5mm to 3.5mm, you have to use a specific cable for it to fit in the headphones. It also comes with a small carrying bag with different compartments for the headphones and the cables, quite nice. The headphones are incredibly lightweight, you don't really feel them, so obviously they're incredibly comfortable too. Definitely wouldn't have an issue wearing these for the longest periods of time.So overall, best sounding headphones I've heard in terms of personal taste, due to the bass being incredible while still maintaining great clarity. I'm not an expert on audio by any means but these definitely pass the test for me. The trebles are harsh though and I don't really like the cable selection. Still, you're not getting better headphones for £149.
