Zhiyun Smooth 4 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer for Smartphone

I originally purchased the Zhiyun Smooth 4 when it was released and I was slightly disappointed at first. I had a iPhone 6 Plus which is a heavy phone and find the motors smuggled to balance this Huge phone. In the end I returned it.Then I was notified that the issue of the motors had been addressed with a new updated release from the manufacturer so I re-ordered.And the simple answer is that it is now damn IMPRESSIVE. I need to do very little adjustments straight out of the box. It also feels lighter and more responsive. I am not sure if they also improved the app but the motors definitely make less sound. This also improves the battery use because less motor use means more efficiency.Talking about the app - it is sharp, free and an absolute must on using the Gimbal, gives me full access to everything I need and then exports the capture video/pictures to photos.In terms of the hardware, you get the standard USB C cable, a mini stand (which is useful on it's own anyway and because it is made of tough plastic, so you can travel with it as a separate tripod if so required). The actual unit is lightweight but it is great to get a case. I will be wrapping the case up with some duct tape to strenghten it for backpacking). Generally, I find It takes an hour to get it up to about 75% charge. I do have to take off my phone case when mounting but I seen people use it with a 'Moment Case and Len'. The clamp to mount the smartphone to the unit is strong and tight (Better than the one I had before so another improvement for the last batch). It is so easy to use that I haven't even read the manual but you have to get use to the controls. There are some great features. With a standard thread mount at the base of the unit, I sometimes attach it to my tripod.If you are a film-maker or love to videos on the go then this is a great unit to have. My only disappointment now is that I wish the carrying case was a bit more compact.

Received my Zhiyun Smooth 4 gimbal the other day, quickly and well packaged. This particular seller was very good at communicating when I had queries that needed to be answered (mamy thanks!). I have had a quick play around with it, and have to be honest; I really like it!I won't go in to too much detail here as there are literally countless functions on the Smooth 4, so I will just talk about the main parts that I will use the most.Smoothness: the Smooth 4 - for the relatively small amount it'll cost - is unbelievably good. Footage shot with the gimbal is very smooth, and you can get some great shots with it.Connectivity: I had no problems with connecting my iPhone 7 to the Smooth 4 via Bluetooth. And using the Zhiyun Play app I was able to literally control every aspect of the iPhone camera; recording resolution, exposure, manual focus, ISO, etc,. Another great function.Pan follow: I found this feature especially useful for my recording needs, and got some really good shots with this.Focus / Zoom wheel: a handy feature to have. This wheel can be used for either zooming or focusing on your subject. Plus you can actually use this to imitate the famous Vertigo zoom (Look it up!)Tripod: the Smooth 4 comes with a great little tripod that you can attach to the bottom of the unit. It is a standard tripod mount/thread, so you can fit the Smooth 4 to any standard tripod. Very handy.Panorama: with this mode you can get some brilliant panorama shots, as the Smooth 4 will automatically pan the camera for you. It will also pan the camera up and down as well as the standard left to right.Timeplapse/hyperlapse: again this is great. The Smooth 4 will move the camera for you when taking time lapse footage, so you can get moving time lapse footage as well as the standard static time lapse.As stated at the start there is simply too much to mention on this review.For the cost of the unit it is well worth the purchase price and I would highly recommend.

The media could not be loaded. The gimbal is great, I've used this with my iPhone 8 and it gets some great shots. It's super easy to use, the little tripod that comes with it is awesome! I found this super responsive and it has some really nice featured built in to the gimbal to give you some great product shots (video attached is from the gimbal - sorry it's a recording of my screen I can't find the original video file anymore).The build quality is fine, overall it's sturdy but after my first use the wheel broke off and I can't use the zoom / follow-focus feature anymore. I don't think I was rough with it (the slower you spin it the better) - apart from that it seems like a really well made gimbal. Not to heavy that it's solid but not to light that it feels cheap or flimsy.The app is really crap though, there are some nice features for panorama and the like but if you want to vlog or record videos then I really recommend just using your normal video app.
