Danner Men's Fort Lewis 10 Inch 200G Law Enforcement Boot

Could probably last your entire career.
This is my 2nd pair of Ft. Lewis boots...in 17 years of getting my policing on. If I hadn't tossed the first pair some years back to start wearing those "they're almost sneakers" style boots, I'm sure they'd still be going strong. Nothing unexpected here. Danners have a long break-in period, but once they are, they're phenomenal. The first pair I had were the 600 gram Thinsulate ones, which would actually leave my feet sweating even when standing in a pile of hideous Maryland snow in hideous Maryland wind while having my skin burned by the hideous Maryland cold. The 200 gram version I have now seem to be very warm, as well. I actually wore these doing a treadmill test the first day I wore them, partly because I'm a masochist, and partly because I forgot I had a treadmill test that day. Surprisingly, I wasn't in complete agony, even though they are far from broken in. Thankfully, I have less than three years left to retirement, and I expect these will last me well beyond, even though I'm moving to Florida when I retire and I certainly won't be wearing them or anything else related to police work there. In the Summer, I tend to stay away from Danners, opting for lighter weight boots (the 2nd gen Adidas GSG-9 and the Rocky S2V have been stand-outs), but you really can't beat these for winter. Worth the high price tag.

Very dissatisfied with the repair of the boots
I am now needing a complete new pair of boots. I have had to have the insoles replaced, the outersole is broken down for the 3rd time and I was wondering what the expensive boot and the cheapest boots are defined as because I paid enough for this boot I could have bought 2 brand new boots and not wasted money on repairs.?

Fits like a glove should be replaced with "Fits like a Danner", as long as you order up one width.
I'll start by saying that in ALL footwear, I have NEVER worn anything other than 12D. There is a lot of confusion about the width of the USA Danner boots. Flat out, if you wear a (D) Medium, buy EE (Wide). I have compared the width of these boots to Bates Defender Durashocks which are very similar and design to the Danner Acadia, which in turn are very similar to these taller, all-leather Fort Lewis boots. The Bates boots have very standard sizing. I wear my regular, Medium width 12(D)s in Bates. Putting them sole to sole, the Danner EE's are still maybe 2mm more narrow than the Bates along the entire length of the sole, but the Danners fit more glovelike. Switching inserts between the shoes and it is clear that even though the Danner boots are EE, even the insoles are slightly more narrow than the Bates Defenders, but not foot crushingly narrow like the Danner medium(D) width boots that I bought and returned. Regarding a few comments I read about ordering EE USA Danners and experiencing too much room in the heel and arch area, I do not notice that at all. The soles are definitely more stiff than most other brands of new boots, so people may be experiencing excess heel rise with each step, but this went away after about 2 weeks as the soles got more flexible.Regarding craftsmanship:I've tried MANY brands of boots like this, and after having every brand have some sort of failure around the 1 year mark, I finally bit the bullet and bought boots that cost $300. When you take them out, put them on, and wear them every day, they DEFINITELY feel like $300 boots, and not in the 'lying to myself to make myself feel ok about spending $300 on boots' way. Excellent quality, perfect stitching, high quality leather. 200G thinsulate is perfect for Maryland winters, however when summer rolls around, I may look at getting the un-insulated version of the Fort Lewis. When these wear out, I'd look to buy another pair exactly like them, but Danner offers a sweet boot recrafting, available in several packages, so it looks like I'm stuck with these for good, and they only get better!Only down-side I can see is that the soles are in NO way slip-resistant. Climbing up on a truck, stepping on a wet tire to get up and it was like I put my foot on ice. Noticed a few other times that the soles slip on hard wet surfaces. I can live with that, and perhaps as the soles flex over time, the rubber will grab more.

Danner Ft Lewis Boots 10 Inch 200G Law Enforcement 13 EE
I purchased these boots using the Amazon Wardrobe program to evaluate for seven days. I am a hard person to fit when selecting boots. Being a deer hunter for 54 years I wanted a good boot that would last me a long time, give me the support I required being a big person in the 300 lb range. During 7 day test period, I tested them on my 5:00 am morning 4 mile walk which was the only way I knew to test them in order to do a good and fair evaluation in a short time. At this point, I would give them a good rating. After this 2020 deer season I will do another evaluation to test them in swamp water and logging...stay tuned.

Sturdy excellent fit and great looking boots
Very comfortable and durable boot. Good looking and functional. Great support for high arch and instep. I bought these primarily for hiking as i prefer a full leather sturdy boot over typical hiking boots. I’ve been wearing them more often. Excellent product. Fit as expected.

11 years and still going...
Best boots I have. Heavy...yes. Sturdy and able to take a serious beating. I wear them every day for a minimum of 8 hours (yes, weekends too). I don't "vacation" much. Tarmac, desert terrain of southeast Arizona, Mexico, Death Valley to name some... The wonderful rural mud climates of south america to woodlands of Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Georgia, Ireland and frequent Mountain strolls up Mt. Rainier. Not water proof for more than 30 minutes however... Had a pair for 4 years, replaced the soles and wore them another 3. Then I purchased another pair from Danner in Portland 4 years ago...still going.

Superior Quality
I wear my Danners day and night, 7 days a week. Once broken in they fit like a glove. This is my 3rd pair in about 7 years. I walk the soles off of them. I get them resoled and donate them. Allowing someone else to share in the love. If you want a tough, comfortable, good looking boot to wear to work and for play, you can't go wrong with 10" Danners...

Loose ankles
Great quality, well constructed. The medium width fit great except for at the instep. It was so tight it was painful. The EE width was great at the instep but left about 1/2" extra diameter around my ankle. It felt very loose and unsupportive. Bummer because I really liked the boot. Had to send it back. Amazon returned quickly. I took off a star because the airthotic insoles that typically come with leather Danner boots were not included in the box.

Good build quality, difficult sizing
Beautiful boot, though unfortunately couldn't find a size that worked for me; I first tried "D" and found that very tight, and "EE" was sloppy loose. These are certainly worth trying, and if the boot fits, I think you're going to love them, regardless, my review is based on build quality, these are beautiful and well crafted.

Great boots, great price
Been wanting a pair of Danners for a bit. But the pricing was a little high for my liking from retailers other than Amazon. But I managed to save over 150$ buying from Amazon. No regrets! Haven’t worn them in yet as it will take a couple of months, but I have heard nothing but great reviews about Danner quality. Knowing I only wear these types of boots occasionally, I have no doubt in my mind that these boots will last years.

I typically wear red wing and wolverine but I got a good price for these so I ordered them
The pictures at the time of writing this was wrong. The pictures were the Arcadia but the full leather fort Lewis was delivered. I prefer the fort Lewis because it's full leather.I typically wear red wing and wolverine but I got a good price for these so I ordered them. They are not as comfortable as what I'm used to. The leather feels lower quality than what I was expecting. I would consider a better rating is they had speed hooks.

Sizing can be tricky
READ THE SIZING DESCRIPTION. They are manufactured narrow, so order a "wide" to have a REGULAR fit. These boots will not fit a wide foot. Quality product tho. Sexy!

Good boots delevere what's expected
Good boots delevere what's expected. Ideal for someone on there feet many hours in poor conditions. Like most quality boots will cost more but worth the investment. When you use your boots for work like I do (meter reader) you need boots that can take the abuse there put through day after day. NOTE Make sure to order a size smaller than normal ( if size 9 fits normal try size 8 ) most quality boots fit about a 1 size smaller.
