A little heavy and clunky but it slowly grew on me
A little disappointed but it's not too bad. I have three other speed cubes, two from Da Yan and another from Dian Sheng. The Da Yan speed cubes are by far the best of the three kinds, IMO. This one, comes in a little behind the Dian Sheng.Pros:1. Once lubed and adjusted, it's pretty fast2. Cuts corners nicely3. Colors are the best, IMO, and have good contrast especially red vs orange. Da Yan is second, Dian Sheng is third when it comes to colors. Those are just my preferences, of course. YMMV4. Original maker - celebrating 35 years since 1980 in July!5. Comes with extra springs and washers6. Comes with a lube applicator7. Stickerless and the Rubik's logo is stamped on the white center piece. Unlike the Da Yan cubes, which has a sticker that eventually peels off. I don't know if the logo will eventually rub off on this one but I think it will stay on a lot longer.8. Comes with a nice little standCons:1. The black borders - after using the borderless cubes, I prefer borderless2. Tight out of the package. Needs adjustment and lube.3. Very noisy cube. Dian Sheng is the quietest of the three kinds that I have4. Movement not as smooth as the other cubes - a lot of "road feel" when you turn the faces5. The lube applicator has just enough lube for one application. I'm keeping the applicator for future use though. As for the weight, it's the heaviest of the three. From lightest to heaviest: Dian Sheng, Da Yan, Rubik'sUpdate: After playing with the Rubik's cube for a few hours, I think it's starting to grow on me. I switched back to my Da Yan cube and actually found that it seemed pretty tight and had less corner-cutting capability than the Rubik's. I think this new cube might grow on me with a few more days of playing around with it. It's still pretty noisy and it feels almost as loose as one of my really old cubes that just fall apart when you try to cut corners only this one stays together. Adding one more star (originally rated it a 3). Still taking 1 star off for the tightness out of the box and 1-application only worth of lube.

Good for general consumers, mediocre for speed cubers
Out of the box, the cube is really tight, but hey, it's the adjustable version. The lube is just silicone oil that's on the thicker side, but it gets the job done. When tensioned properly, this thing turns insanely fast, but still locks occasionally, especially when executing algorithms. Compared to other cubes, it's a bit on the heavier side, but the extra plastic makes it incredibly durable, especially the core.I assume you're probably a parent of somebody who is getting into speedcubing, or a general consumer. If you're just getting into speedcubing, this is at best a mediocre option. You're better off with a different speedcube since they'll be cheaper and have better features. Just do a quick google search and you'll probably come across a few dedicated stores, then chose from there. If you're anybody else, this is probably among the better options for buying Rubik's Cubes, since the anti popping mechanism works very well, and the tiles are definitely not going to be removed by ye' old sticker peelers. The newer version is a huge step up from the original. As a general product, this would earn a 4, but for a competitive speed cube, a solid 3.

Good cube for old shoolers
This cube gets some flack from the speedcuber crowd. I have several cubes, and I find the true speedcubes pop pieces way too easily and too often for me; I do have to say I'm not a finger flicker, more of a fast standard solver; this cube hasn't popped on me yet. Out of the box, it's not as slick as a true speedcube; this cube has to break in a little while, and be tuned/lubed. Again, you REALLY have to lube this cube when new, this makes it into a whole 'nother cube. I like that it weighs a little more than an asian speedcube, it feels more substantial and less toy like. It is kind of loud as other reviewers have mentioned. I think this cube is best for old school cubers who just want a better, faster cube than the standard Rubik's. The finger trick guys would probably prefer one of the Chinese brands made specifically for their type of cubing. If you grew up with the original Rubik's, and just do standard method, this is probably more for you (and me).
