ABUSUltimate 420 U-lock + USH holder + Cobra 10/120 security cable - Bike lock set - security level 12 - Black/Red

Great for the money, so much sturdier than my old Via Velo lock. Feels like it'd last forever (I had a good laugh at the review giving it 1* because it "only" lasted 7 years).My only complaint really was setting up the mount for the lock on the bike. The two nuts were missing and after fitting them I had to use an electronic screwdriver on high torque to fit the screws as it would slide around otherwise. It was also a really tight fit getting the lock in and out of the mount, but it does loosen up with time.

Good practical lock to deter potetial low life. Could of done with a rain cover for key hole.

I’d bought the smaller 14cm version of this for my son. I like the mount design that effectively locks the lock to the bike when not in use, and the various tests I read said that the Abus rattles less than others when riding.So, I ordered the 23cm one for me, thinking not unreasonably that it would be simply a longer version of the same and provide a bit more flexibility. Sadly it’s not, it’s also significantly wider and heavier. It really shouldn’t have the same 420 model number.Since the manufacturer has little dimension data on its website, I’ve attached a few side by side photos. I returned the 23cm lock as it’s just too big, heavy and obstructive for the few times I’ll use it. I ordered the 14cm version which fits nicely and unobtrusively on my bike.Let’s be honest, if someone really wants to steal your bike they’ll steal it no matter what lock you fit. However your average hoodied crackhead will hopefully be deterred by this and pick an easier target.

used the supplied mounting kit ..first time out whilst riding dropped off bike frame into road traffic had to walk back into flow to retrieve had been run over several times ...Because PLASTIC mount had snapped....... at this money should be a secure metal fixing ........disappointed have had to order a fixing from china

Much more bulky than I expected. The bracket is big and cumbersome. The key and lock not very easy to operate- all this is said from someone who has only ever used Abus D locks. But the more expensive ones have a better locking mechanism and easy key fitting and a sleeker bracket....... I wish I had spent a few £ more and bought one of the better ones. Don't know why Abus make this inferior lock!

Lock ceased up after 7 years. One day fine the next the key just turns and it won’t open. Fawkes Cycles who sold it via Amazon say warrantee does not cover this. Will avoid Abus and go Kryptonite for next one.

The lock is sturdy and well-designed. But the plastic bracket is a design turd., flapping about and preventing the u-lock part from going into the lock barrel so that you have to faff about lining it all up each time you lock it.I found this so intensely irritating that I was about to bin the whole thing - until I got out the duct-tape and fixed it (see image).It's now a great lock.

This is a sturdy gold secured lock the wire isn't security rated but good for keeping quick release seats from being pinched.

Great quality lock. Installation on to bike was straightforward and sits on the mount very securely.

Good quality. Not sure the cable or mount are great quality, but the loct itself is nice.
