Another cheesy print run from Hermes
I waited a long time for it and I am very disappointed in this volume, and in the other reviews, many of which seem to refer to other volumes. The ones that praise this volume mainly do so because it's The Phantom, and I agree that you can't do much better than that, but I wish they were put out by a respectable house, rather than Hermes. Why are the end papers the same in each volume? Would it have broken the bank to use end papers that reflect the contents of that volume (see IDW Dick Tracy or Little Orphan Annie)? And why are so many pages in this volume lacking color? I remember Hermes had the same problem when they did the Zorro comic books. I can only presume they rush the printing without checking to insure color on all the prints. After all, we know they set themselves impossible deadlines, since they never meet them. Seldom even come close. It's unprofessional, and not reflected in the prices, which are, per page, much higher than IDW, Titan, Fantagraphics, etc. Classic Comics Press, a one-man shop, does better work than this. See Casey Ruggles for an example of how it should be done. One reviewer states that this is the last volume of Sundays, since they are included with dailies beginning in volume 9. While there are some continuities that mix daily and Sunday, there are a lot more that don't. Volumes 9 & 10 of the dailies contain some Sundays (blessedly in color), but there are none in volumes 11 & 12, which go back to dailies only. So I hope there will be more volumes of Sundays, and, yes, I'll buy them, because they're The Phantom, even if the publishers can't be trusted to do it right. I'll buy 'em, and I'll pay these exorbitant prices, but I'll be gnashing my teeth the while.

The Ghost Who Walks
I loved following The Phantom in the Chicago American when I was a kid...and it's great to have a coloured collection of the earlier stories. By today's standards they are probably polticially incorrect, but the adventure, the drama the humour are highly entertaining.

Disappointing
Disappointed. Expected a lot from this book. For starters it is too heavy . Secondly it does not fit in a book shelf. The first story "The mysterious Passenger " is in black and white. The second story " The Phantom's Ring is partly in black and white. The colour pages are smudgy and not at all impressive. I have a few of the stories published in Indrajal and they have done a far superior job. The bonus feature of the Girl phantom by Bill Lignante is the only impressive thing about this issue.ALSO the book was not properly packed which resulted in a crease on the Dust cover.
