Great Improvement.
I purchased the duel rate version of this monitor a couple of years ago at a cost of over twice the price of this unit. It worked well but I found it difficult to program and later the backlight failed. Due to this I was reluctant to buy this new version but I am glad I did. Being single rate programming it is a doddle to set up, it works well and, despite the drop in price, the large clear display and the build quality is impressive at this price. I was so impressed I purchased a couple more for for the rest pf the family.

Great for checking your appliance's power usage
I used this to check some old fridges' / freezers' power usage resulting in their replacement. I think the meter doesn't clock up time if zero power used so care is needed when assessing say a fridge over say 24 hours. It won't record when the fridge is off. Just use an external timer. Otherwise good piece of kit.

Easily check electrical power usage and energy consumption over different periods
Bought this Power/Energy dual tariff monitor to check general power usage of devices around the home. The instructions supplied is rather small and its a little tricky to setup the different rates however the supplier was brilliant in that they sent separate instructions by the time I received the unit via email to assist with this. Unit arrived on time as specified.Note: you only need to set up the device for timing and if you want the unit to display the cost of the power consumption on each tariff. Also the reset button seems to reset everything, including the time and any stored tariffs and consumption data - was hoping it would allow a selection of what you want to reset including everything but couldnt find the options or instructions to do so.Have checked a few devices already, for current usage, supply voltage, supply frequency, phase (not sure what that is, but was told by an engineer it could be important with a large load and if its very much away from unity (one)). Seems relatively accurate, going by what is displayed on the device packaging and the readings this power meter takes.Your results may vary. Have checked a few smart bulbs - colour temp doesnt make difference to power consumption. The brightness makes the difference to power consumption. Leaving the bulbs on for smart functionality does consume a little bit of power as they are connected to the wifi networkCurrently connected to the TV, broadband router and satellite box to get some consumption data on the usage over days and weeks.

Easy to use and work well
These power meters are easy to install - just plug them in between the socket and the appliance or appliances you'd like to measure. They won't block a plug head next to them from being used with a standard plug, but you might have issues plugging a large charger in next to it. You can't plug two of these in directly next to each other on a power strip - they won't fit - but you might be able to put them next to each other on a double gang wall socket depending on the exact ones in your house. The top of the display can show voltage, power factor, frequency, or either peak or momentary wattage or amps in use. The middle of the display can show total kWh used or, once configured, the cost of energy used. It's useful to be able to see two of these at once. The units support dual tariff plans, and can also show the current time in the middle section of the display instead. It doesn't, however, have a timer to switch devices on and off automatically. The unit can alert when the amount of power being drawn is above safe limits, which is useful for checking that extension cords don't have too many things plugged in.The bottom of the display shows energy use over time in the form of a bar graph. The display itself is a monochromatic LCD. It's well laid out and easy to understand. The viewing angles are less than ideal, both due to the nature of these displays and because the screen itself sits some distance behind a plastic coverglass - meaning that the screen is much harder to read from above or below with much lower contrast. The coverglass is also prone to glare and reflections. The display has no backlight.I haven't precisely measured the accuracy of the units using measurement equipment, but they give results that make sense given the appliances attached to them and run close to the known correct values. For this sort of device, that's all that matters - you probably don't need absolute precision unless you know that you do, so for working out how much energy a computer or heater is using these are more than accurate enough. The display seems to be updated roughly once a second. On the back of the unit, a battery door secured with two screws reveals two LR44 batteries. These mean that the data on the device, and the internal clock, stay on the device even when unplugged from the socket. You can review information on the display after unplugging it, which makes it easier to use.The buttons on the front are simple enough for changing what's on the display, but I'd keep hold of the manual as most other tasks are a bit tricky.Overall these were a useful purchase and met my needs. If you're looking to keep an eye on how much energy an appliance is using over time or at a given moment, these work well.

Okay for price
Complicated to use . Okay product for price

Would have got an extra 2 stars if it worked.
I thought I was getting an excellent deal buying a pair of Dual Tariff Meters for just £1 more than a single unit.Ironically only one of the two actually worked out of the box. The second unit would not display anything, despite trying the troubleshooting 'Reset' button and just about every other conceivable combination of buttons to try to trigger it into life. For the one that did work....setting up is ok if you can read the 7cm x 7cm User Manual.Visibility / readability of the meter screen from any angle other than directly straight on is very poor, which is not great when using it on low mounted power outlets.I am currently returning for a full refund then a different product choice.
