Solid, heavyweight construction. It was a good upgrade to replace a defective socket on my daughter's antique lamp.

The large threaded end of the shell is poorly formed so it doesn't fit the lamp shade without a physical modification, a saw cut. The two pieces that snap together, the shell and the base do not fit securely. The shell with the lamp shade wiggles and feels as though it will fall off. A very poor fit. This socket is not worth the money and will only frustrate you.

Substituted wrong item purposely. My item number was crossed out and a hand written replacement number was included. It is not the same item is not threaded on end where it is needed and cannot be used.

I too fell for the item shown in the photo and description. It clearly shows and describes an Uno style socket with threads for attaching the shade. Not what I received, though the quality of the item Is fine. I don’t know if it’s the supplier or Amazon that writes and monitors descriptions but it would be nice if one of them would get their act together.
