Rock Exotica Totem Descender F10

I have mixed feeling about the Totem. I have invested hours into understanding the dozens of ways it can be used in canyoneering scenarios. It is an incredibly versatile device and so I often carry it with me as a backup. On the other hand, it is not KISSy and can seem unnecessarily complex. Its not my go-to for anything but there are scenarios where I like having it on my harness.

Good construction. Has no instructions! Complicated to use. MUST practice before you go out. Go to the “canyons and crags” YouTube channel for demonstration.

Our primary releasable contingency in the canyons. If someone gets something caught in their rappel device, you can safely lower them down.

If you know you know. If you don't know, get this thing and use it. Amazingly simple design that incorporates 4-5 devices into one. Be careful though- they're addictive.

If you're looking for the one tool that does everything. This is the one.

I use this for canyoneering in western North Carolina. The totem is Such a key player in my systems.

Really good product, very well made and useful for descending and belaying, all in 1 device. Feels great and I used it canyoneering. Its a bit large and clunky, but I felt comfortable with it, and it functioned very well and was reliable. I love the color and feel of it.

Essential piece of kit, buy it.
