Mortimer and old pals
For those familiar with Bob Mortimer’s other work and the smorgasbord of characters he has created in his various comedy vehicles this fast paced crime novel delights with a self depreciating hero (bob?) as the central character caught up in a web of corrupt shenanigans with deft inclusions of familiar old favourites such as the Albanian in the attic and a Barry Homeowner-esque sleazebag, together with his real life canine pal Ted (here called Lassoo ie Ted Lassoo - geddit?) as neighbour/confidant Grace’s dog. Mortimers sense of humour shines through and as a debut novel it’s amusing, genuinely engaging and has Bobs personality leaping off every page. A perfect and most enjoyable light holiday read.

Think around this...
Genuinely a really good read. Found the storyline to be a lot of fun and was hooked very quickly. Filled with loads of daft interactions with the characters that made me laugh so much. And Bob himself said the main character (Gary) is based on him, so you feel a warmth towards Gary right away.If you don't take yourself to seriously, then this is a book for you.(Update) Just reread for the second time, and can comfirm it's still a bundle of joy and laughter.
