The media could not be loaded.  I wanted to surprise my father with a chess set because he really likes to play and the old one that he had was not looking so great anymore so I found this one which was looking very interesting and the reality is that when I have received the product I was pleased with the fact that it also has a storage pouch which is looking very good and related to the set itself, the box is made from wood and has very interesting round finish at the corners and also the closing mechanism looks premium.Inside the box everything is nicely organized and each piece has its own designated spot and to remove them and put them back it is very simple because once I've seen where they have to go then everything is easy but I cannot say that the quality of the pieces themselves it's something to impress but obviously the most important aspect is the fact that this set is as described and also it is made decent material.My father was really impressed with this set and I started to play with him for a couple of times and per general I can say that the experience of using this product is as I expected and how definitely recommend it to anyone.

Super elegant folding chess board. The workmanship is top notch, the board does fold which undoes a little of the classyness overall but that does make it easier to carry and travel with.Could easily be given as a gift as the box it comes in and the cover is also really nice.

I was amazed by this set, especially for the price point. The chess-set came with a stylish felt carry-bag to keep it safe from scratches when travelling with. Inside you get the chess set (and all the wooden carved pieces to go atop it), and a little bag that has instructions on how to play chess, a lovely set of stickers, and a few of the basic chess rules. It is beautifully presented, and I do think this would make a fantastic gift for that reason.The board was easy to fold out and use; the hinges were smooth and the latches locked properly. My only tiny gripe with the board is that the felt on the bottom of the pieces feels quite cheap, but, honestly, with how nice everything else is, it didn't bother me too greatly. Once we finished playing, it was easily to pack the set up and throw it in a bag to travel with.For anyone either looking for a stylish, portable chess set - or just one to keep on the coffee table, I think this is a delightful set.

This wooden folding chess set from A&A is an excellent quality set that looks great displayed on a table. The chess pieces are made from natural walnut wood and have an elegant design. The king pieces stand 3 inches tall, giving the set a substantial feel and presence on the board. Despite the (15-inch) larger size, the board still folds up for easy storage.The natural wood grain of the chess board and pieces gives this set a very upscale, high-end look and feel. The pieces are weighted and feel solid in the hand when moving them around the board. The extra queens are also a nice bonus for playing games like Bughouse chess. Very good quality overall.

15" Foldable Chess Set and Board from A&A. This is a lovely well presented chess set which would make a great gift. It's made from Mahogany (Box) with a Mahogany & Maple Inlay and has a metal clasp to secure it shut whilst in storage. The Staunton chess pieces are also made from real wood and feel sturdy and robust.Both the board and chess pieces are very well made and look like a quality premium product. The board folds neatly and doesn't take up much space at all. It would make a great gift or household purchase and I'd happily recommend it.

I bought two sets of chess pieces from A&A at the same time, this one and one with a pasteboard storage case (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8NRS8YB). The pieces are quite uniform between the two sets, as expected, and so meet my intended purpose. I have replacement pieces for every piece when one is inevitably lost or broken. I grew up seeing many games with small pieces such as pawns, a checker, dice, etc. replaced by something close. By buying two identical sets of pieces that will never be a problem.The pieces are quite as nice as expected, and perfect for recreational play. But after reading many reviews I thought I would check the dimensions... Well, the kings were slightly taller than 3 inches, but the base of the king was more like 1.2 inches rather than 1.4 inches. The pawns had bases that were more or less 0.8 inches, with only slight variations, but were only 1.4 inches tall rather than 1.5 inches. Not a big deal, really, unless you are trying to find replacement pieces to match your missing or broken piece later on, or are looking to buy this set to replace a piece in your set. Another thing I noticed was that every single piece had a oval base -- not dramatically oval, but enough to realize these either were not turned on a lathe, or were sanded unevenly.The case which came with this has a nice wood frame with panel sides which will form a playing surface if the case is opened and turned upside down. The panel looks to be a engineered wood product rather than wood, but is thin, light, and durable. I have no intention of using the case as a board, but will use a separate board (one piece) to play on. Inside is a flocked plastic tray with molded spots for each piece. Makes it quite easy to check that you have picked up and put away all 34 pieces, minimizing the chance of leaving a piece out to get lost. I only hope the plastic is heavy enough to be durable over many years.The wood case added twenty dollars to the cost over what I paid for the set with a pasteboard case, which is not a bad price when I priced other wood storage boxes for chess pieces. This case is quite nicely finished.Bottom line: it is an elegant set of chess pieces with a good case that will be a pleasure to play with for decades, but could be difficult to replace a piece some ten or twenty years from now.

This is a very well made board and pieces. Definitely worth the $$ charged. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quality chess board.

Ce set de pièces de jeu d'échec est superbe, tant par la qualité de fabrication que la finition pour un prix très contenu au moment du test.Définitivement une bonne idée cadeau pour quelqu'un aimant les échecs, il est même fourni avec des goodies comme des planches de stickers et le coffret (très beau aussi à ce propos), protégée par un étui dans laquelle elle se range, peut se déplier une fois les pièces sorties pour former un échiquier.Sinon il est possible d'utiliser un plateau d'échec que le vendeur propose aussi (ce que j'ai fait) et vous pouvez vous en servir pour commencer des parties très fun ou simplement laisser le tout en décoration avec l'esthétique et la finition du bois des différents éléments.

Ein Schachspiel gehört zu den schönsten Spielen die man so im Haus haben kann. Auch auf Reisen wollte ich nicht darauf verzichten um gemütlich im Urlaub eine Partie spielen zu können. Dieses Set hier bietet genau die Möglichkeit das ganze transportabel zu machen. Das Set kommt gut verpackt und hat dank seiner Klappfunktion eine platzsparende Komponente sodass es auf Reisen und selbst zu Haus nicht allzuviel Platz weg nimmt.Die Figuren sind sehr schön gearbeitet und entsprechen den Darstellungen auf der Produktseite. Unsauberkeiten in der Fertigung waren keine feststellbar.An der Unterseite der Figuren findet sich ein weiches Vlies, daher kratzt hier auch nichts auf dem Spielfeld wenn man seine Züge macht. Die Figuren finde ich persönlich recht hübsch. Zusätzlich gibt es zwei Königinnen / Damen extra im Spiel. Üblicherweise hat man die nur bei hochwertigen Spielen dabei für den Fall das man in der Partie mit einem Bauer bis zur Grundlinie des Gegners gelangt, so kann man den Bauern direkt wandeln und zumeist hat man die Bestrebung in eine Dame. Sofern die aber noch im Spiel sind, kann man dem Regelwerk nach dennoch eine zweite Dame ins Spiel bringen. Das wird nicht zu häufig bzw. sehr selten Vorkommen. Für den Fall dass es doch mal auftritt, hat man hier zumindest vorgesorgt und muss keinen extra Dummy (andere Spielfigur) verwenden.Das Verstauen der Figuren im Schachbrettkasten in den vorgefertigten Nieschen ist übersichtlich und ordentlich. Das Zusammenklappen klappt gut und spart Platz zudem hat man eine schöne Filztasche die zum verstauen des Schachbrettes genutzt werden kann und auf Reisen auch vor Beschädigung schützt. Eine kleine Schachanleitung liegt dem Set auch bei, sodass man als Wiedereinsteiger oder Beginner auch schnell mal einen Blick riskieren kann. Einziger Nachteil, das ganze ist ausschließlich auf Englisch.Sogar ein paar schicke Aufkleber und eine Postkarte liegen dem Set bei.Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit diesem Schachspiel und bewerte es in der Gesamtschau mit 5 Sternen.
