Inexpensive and Effective
Does what it was designed to do, dissipate heat. M.2 SSD can build up heat when used in confined area's where active ventilation is lacking. Using this product can help reduce the build up thus extending the life of the SSD.Heat is one of the major causes of failure in modern electronics.Note: This unit mounts to the SSD using a combination of a Thermal pad that has adhesive on both sides and uses silicone bands to keep the heatsink in place. This can be a problem if the SSD has a product label attached to the face of the SSD where the thermal pad is attached for 2 reasons, first, the label could hinder proper heat transfer, second if the label is removed from the SSD you could create a warranty problem for yourself. My SSD's are Western Digital so I contacted them about using the heatsink and was told and I quote: " You can use the heatsink anywhere nearby the SSD but not on the SSD as it may temper the label on the drive which will void the warranty of the drive." So bottom line, you cant remove the label and if the label is damaged in anyway you void your warranty. I ended up purchasing 2 Intel SSD's, (no issues with labels with their products) and was in business. I did measure the differences in temperature with and without the heatsink and noticed a 10 degree C lower temperature using this product.

Works great!
Awhile back, I installed a Sabrent NVMe SSD onto a PCIe expansion card and was concerned about throttling. I wasn't getting consistent speeds you'd expect from a PCIe Gen. 3x4 drive. So, I checked the temps, and my drive was maxing out at near 80 degrees C during benchmarks. That's throttling territory. So, I installed this heat sink, and now, the drive tends to max out in the mid to upper 50s -- a difference of over 20 degrees.Installation was easy and, although the heat sink isn't very thick, it obviously seems to be doing the job and feels like it's made of a quality metal alloy. The packaging is pretty simple: You get a small, clear plastic box with the heat sink, thermal pad w/adhesive, cleaning wipes and three elastic bands. The bands I received are different than what is pictured; however, they actually look thicker than the images. They're also black, not white.Overall, this is a great deal for six bucks. If you want something that does the job and doesn't look too flashy with pretty colors, LEDs or fins, then this does the trick.

works, but use the rubber bands that come with it
the heat transfer/double sticky tape is pretty weak. Fell off on it's own after an hour, had to use the included rubber band straps to keep it on. I only use this drive occasionally so it fulfills it's purpose and helps keep the temps down when I am using that drive/stick.Good size heatsink, good weight to it. Yes continue to use the transfer pad/tape even though it doesn't stick as it helps transfer the heat and keeps you from shortening anything electrical on the ssd via the metal heatsink.

my m.2
Very easy to install and it works as it should. No need to worry about my M.2 overheating.

A must have if you're moving to an NVMe M.2 SSD!
You need to have a heat sink if you're going to use a PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD in your machine. Those bad boys can get hot, and you need to pull heat away so that you don't get your speed throttled down.Installation is super easy. The package comes with a two (2) wipes to clean the mounting surfaces of the NMVe. After wiping the NVMe with the wet wipe, and then using the dry wipe to dry and completely clean off the NVMe card, you attach the heat conducting gel pad to the top of the NMVe card and then attach the aluminum heat sink to that. The kit comes with three (3) rubber band o-rings that can be used to make sure the heat sink and gel pad won't shift on the NVMe card. You only need to use two (2) of the rings, like the product pictures show. For $6, this is a steal and will easily dissipate a good chunk of heat off your NVMe. Mine dropped ~30F in temp. Not bad for a passive heat sink.

Excellent additon to keeping the SATA M.2 SSD drive cool!
Worked perfectly to lower the operating thermal temperature of a 512GB Sansung SSD 860 EVO M.2 SATA drive in my small high-performance Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1 sealed fanless tablet with no airflow design. This new heat sink works effectively to prevent the unwanted thermal throttling of the CPU when running complex FFMPEG computing tasks. Excellent value for the money spent on this Heatsink, with a simple installation. Highly recommended.

Seems to work
Used on my Solidigm m.2 SSD. Idle temperatures didn't change noticeably but temperature excursions during long sequential reads and writes dropped by about 20 degrees C. The rubber band mounting system seems a bit sketchy but it works for the time being. No instructions were included, but assembly is pretty self-evident.

Simple install and works as advertised
NVMe chips went from a 93f (34c) degrees bare to 86f (30c) degrees with this heat sync with only ambient cooling (no fans) in a NAS at rest. The thermal paste is a double-sided sticker that is very easy to apply. The kit also includes some rubber bands to help secure it tightly.Prior reviews have criticized the cheap white rubber bands that this used to ship with. However, these now come with hefty black bands that seem more than adequate. For this low price, might as well buy this even if you are not sure you will need it.One critical caveat: this adds about 4mm of height, so make sure your install application has the overhead space required.
