Expensive for the quality of print and author seems to go on a bit!
I'm a 3rd year accountancy student and know my way around accounts software quite well. Ive been asked to move onto Xero by a client and got this book to help me adapt as there is very little on the market about Xero. It's an Australian book and the explanations and examples are Australian for example a supplier invoice is a Bill. HMRC is tax authority. It talks about the $ symbol as opposed to the £. It does have in the most important sections in different regions. For example reporting to tax authorities details australia first then New Zealand, Then USA, and seven pages later UK. This does make the book relevant to those countries but adds pages and pages not of any interest. It spends 123 pages explaining how to set up Xero and a crash course in accounts which I found quite detailed and complex for a novice business owner. Ive never set up Xero so this seems a complicated system to get going. It does have step by step guides to just about anything you could want to do so from that perspective it's useful. 383 pages of reading so I think they could have perhaps edited out all the stories about clients on a cruise around the greek islands, trying to sell the cloud dream to you and even the complicated accountancy lessons. I find the screen prints too small to see whats going on. The book is very thick to hold and read comfortably. And the cheap low quality sharp edged newsprint paper gives it a low quality hard feeling. SAGE for dummies by comparison is quite concise, printed on lovely white premium paper and even though it has more pages (413 pages) is 7mm thinner.

useful refernce book if you dont want to keep seaching though the Xero online help section
Clear and concise way as one would expect from a 'Dummies' book. I was looking for more information on how to process payroll transactions in Xero, it didn't completely answer what I wanted from the book, but it has given me guidance on reporting and other things I will need to do in Xero for my accounts management.I prefer having a book versus using the online help as I can page mark and easily look up areas I want to understand more. Its was worth the purchase for me.
